How much does this hurt us? Smith - I think Pool will be fine filling in if he plays anything like he did in the playoffs Holmes - Obviously would stink to loose him but would Plax, Mason Kerley?
you need to have a chat with your country-man in the Pats-hater/new user thread. im lobbying for scotland to be IP banned shortly.
Not that I'm happy to see Holmes out, but it could be an interesting opportunity to see what Kerley can do.
I have no problem with placing Poole back there to see what he can do. Also, the Jags aren't really known for their secondary so some Kerley or Cumberland throws aren't a bad thing.
Slightly misleading thread title - Rex didn't say "more than questionable", he said "more questionable than Harris". I think both dress but get very limited reps, at least early on - we should have enough to beat Jacksonville without either but have both available if we really need them.
Holmes will be missed for this game but not as much as Harris would be. We really need all our big run stoppers in there.
I wouldn't be shocked to see Holmes active, but play very little if any, especially if we are ahead. They might keep him around in case things are close.
Holmes is obviously a great player not to have on the field, but our passing attack should be more than enough to be sufficient. 1. Plax 2. Mason 3. Keller 4. LT 5, 6, 7. Cumberland/Kerley/Turner Kerley still may not get as many opportunities. He'll be the 5th option Behind Plax, Mason, LT and Keller. Then you'll have Cumberland on different packages and I think we'll use him a little bit more this week. He proved he can catch in the preseason and I was glad to see him make good use of his limited action last wk. Mason was the 3rd WR last wk and he only had 3 catches. Kerley may not get much more than 3 catches, but so far he has just been a great hype. We'll find out if he do something worthwhile with his potential this wk if Holmes sits.
Could be an opportunity for Pool to gain some ground on Smith. I'd like to see him reclaim the starting job. Holmes is arguably our best player on offense so the impact not having him on the field can't be understated.
Fair enough. I didn't mean to imply that he'll be getting all of the touches that Holmes normally would, but compared to the other guys you listed he seems to be the most similar to Holmes (speedy with a lot of YAC potential), so perhaps he'll get at least some of those opportunities. As you said, all we've seen up to this point is a promising preseason so I'm excited to see what he can do if he gets a shot. If Plax winds up having a great season and becomes too expensive to keep next year it would be great to have someone already on the roster ready to step up.
holmes is a big loss. it's easy to say we have enough weapons vs a lesser team so we should be ok but it's not that easy. remember, sanchez still doesn't have that chemistry with either of those 2 guys yet.
Just my opinion but I think having the only receiver Sanchez already has chemistry/history out of the game will have a decent impact on his performance. As others said though, It'll be interesting to see what Kerley can do against #1 CBs.
Seems like a perfect game to build some then; Plax is 6'5" with hands like glue, Mason has a reputation for running perfect routes every time. If Mark gets his timing and his throws right then the Jacksonville secondary is waiting to be abused.
