That's actually a pretty good scenario for the MWC as well because it appears that this Oklahoma thing is going to happen. One report I read which was a writer for the Austin Statesman and he was quoted on the Tim Brando show as saying the Oklahoma president is "salivating" at the thoughts of being lumped in with such great academic institutions like Stanford, Cal, UCLA and USC. I think if that happens then the Pac 12 goes to 14 with both Oklahoma schools. The SEC goes to 14 with aTm and Mizzou The ACC adds Texas and Kansas (or Tech) Big 10 stays pat and the Big East assuming Kansas is off the block can take either Baylor or Tech as a travel partner for TCU. If Tech goes to the ACC with Texas then I think it's safe to say Kansas will go to the Big East along with Kstate and Baylor. Iowa State is the odd one out in this scenario but who really cares about them? That gives the Big East 12 football schools but is disgusting in basketball with so many schools. The Big East could also say screw Baylor and go with Houston who in my opinion is a much more attractive option then Baylor. I'd prefer the Big East to get the Kansas Schools as well as Houston which means the MWC could then take Baylor and since Houston is leaving CUSA maybe we could entice SMU to join and get up to 12 teams as well.
West Virginia won't come to the SEC IMHO because of an SEC secret I am not at liberty to discuss. Anyone who has spent any significant time at an SEC school around the AD will know why. A&M or Mizzou in the West , Ga or Va Tech, and Clemson are the best chances for the east.
So apparently Iowa State is refusing to waive their right to see because apparently with the money they were supposed to get from this contract they are going to do 40 million dollars worth of upgrades.... I guess it's a good thing to know that if I take out a large loan to buy a house and my company goes out of business I can sue my employer for my obligations.... oh wait welcome to the real world assholes. Seriously I have no sympathy for Baylor, Kstate, or anybody else who gets left behind. As a fan who roots for a school that isn't in the BCS none of these schools have ever stood up for the MWC or for CUSA so my feeling is they've been sucking off the teat of Texas and Oklahoma for a long time and have never stood up for the little guy so let em rot on the vine.
Ruh roh... Syracuse and Pitt in talks with the ACC. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/09/17/sports/ncaafootball/syracuse-and-pitt-in-talks-with-acc.html?_r=3
#13 & #14 are Syracuse and Pittsburgh http://brett-mcmurphy.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/29532522/32034930 TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Atlantic Coast Conference has received letters of application from Pittsburgh and Syracuse, a high ranking league official told CBSSports.com. The ACC also has recently been contacted by 10 schools, the official said. However, they would not disclose what conferences those schools were from. Also, at last week’s ACC presidents meeting in Greensboro, N.C., the league’s presidents “unanimously” voted to increase the ACC’s exit fee to $20 million. This takes affect immediately. The New York Times reported Friday that Syracuse, Pitt and the ACC had been in talks about the two Big East schools joining the league. Representatives from all three declined comment to the Times. ACC commissioner John Swofford has said previously that the ACC will always be mindful and do what’s best for its member institutions.” 12-0 vote to increase the exit fee, I guess FSU and VT aren't leaving anytime soon. As for the other 10, I have no idea outside everyone else left in the Big East.
My guess is the other 8 teams would come from what remains of the Big East although probably not TCU or Cinci. Things are about to get very crazy. Now you have to wonder if the Big 10 is going to get back involved although they're very quiet so who the heck knows. If I'm not Syracuse or Pitt I'm quit nervous right now. Could Rutgers and West Virgina be left behind? I doubt it but if the Big East loses Cuse and Pitt no matter who they bring in will not help them. Iowa State and Baylor? Really? Come on.
That would create an insane basketball conference with those 2 powers going in with the Carolina schools
According to this guy it appears Cuse and Pitt are all but members of the ACC http://brett-mcmurphy.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/29532522/32035225
I'm in shock! The Orange have been in the big east since as long as I can remember. I have always pretty much hated the ACC. If this happends it will take a long time for me to get used to it.
First of all I hope the Big East tries to grab Kansas and K State. That could help them out tremendously. Secondly, Syracuse is delusional IMO. By the time this transfer is actually completed, Boeheim will be retiring. This will result in a big fall off for the basketball portion (the money maker at the school). Syracuse football is no better than Duke football and for them to treat it as their main priority is IMO downright stupid.
I think Marone is on the right track with SU football. It will take a little while longer but I think he is a good coach. As for JB he is in for a few more years, well according to the media anyway. Hopkins is a crap shoot but he has been in the system for a while and should know the players well being so involved with recruiting.
It's official announcement in 8 hours http://www.usatoday.com/sports/coll...roves-syracuse-pittsburgh-big-east/50448806/1 'The presidents of the Atlantic Coast Conference voted Saturday morning to accept Syracuse and Pittsburgh to the league, according to an official in the ACC. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity because the league has not announced the move. The ACC has scheduled a news media teleconference Sunday at 9:30 a.m., ET ostensibly to discuss the expansion, but no details were given. Though news of Pitt and Syracuse's defection caught most of college athletics by surprise, the league has had discussions about expansion for the last year and the move was accelerated when Texas A&M announced its intention to join the Southeastern Conference last month, according to the official. BLOG: Louisville AD: Big East trusted Pitt The move would make the ACC a 14-team conference and certainly lead to speculation that the era of 16-team super conferences is about to arrive. The ACC also has not closed off its options about adding two other East Coast teams, depending on how the expansion dominoes fall in other leagues. Connecticut and Rutgers would be the candidates, the official said. Syracuse and Pitt must give the Big East 27 months notice of their departure and pay a $5 million exit fee. Last week, in a regularly scheduled meeting ACC presidents unanimously approved raising their exit fee to $20 million - up from about $13 million - for any member leaving the conference. There has been speculation about the SEC's interest in Florida State. However, it appears FSU will stay put given Florida State president Eric Barron's stated commitment to the league and his vote for the pricey exit fee. One official in the Big East, also requesting anonymity, said there was word about Syracuse and Pitt heading to the ACC three weeks ago. With the departure, the Big East is down to seven football schools, including Texas Christian, which joins the conference next year. News of the Big East's possible unraveling came on the heels of the death of its founder, Dave Gavitt, who died Friday night after a long illness. More changes are expected based on the next move of several schools in the Big 12. The board of regents at Oklahoma and Texas are meeting Monday to discuss the possibility of the universities leaving that conference. Texas also made a pitch to the ACC, according to an official in the ACC. After being silent all day, Big East Commissioner John Marinatto issued a statement late Saturday night: "Although I was obviously very disappointed to learn the news about the ACC's being in discussions about membership with the University of Pittsburgh and Syracuse University, I continue to believe the Big East Conference is well positioned for the future and that the events of the past 24 hours will unify our membership. We have been working steadily to solidify and strengthen the Big East Conference and position us for our upcoming TV negotiations and I am confident that we will again emerge from this situation and remain strong." The New York Times first reported news of the talks involving the ACC on Friday, and CBSSports.com first reported Saturday the schools had filed applications with the ACC. In Louisville, Cardinals athletic director Tom Jurich said he initially doubted the schools were leaving. "I didn't believe it because Pittsburgh was involved, and I didn't see where the value (is) they would bring to that league at all," he told the Louisville Courier-Journal. "That's no slap at Pittsburgh. I just couldn't see where that fit was." In addition, Jurich said he was surprised because Pitt's chancellor, Mark Nordenberg, is chair of the Big East executive committee: "He was keeping everybody together and asking everybody to be unified. I think everybody trusted him." Cincinnati president Greg Williams said his school remains committed to the Big East. "The Big East is a viable organization," Williams said. "I think they can survive. Syracuse and Pitt are great schools, but the Big East is a strong conference." That does not mean he isn't surveying the landscape. "We're always trying to get information about what's going on. We're not trying to jump to another conference. We're committed to the Big East. We think the Big East is a great conference, one that's really right for us. That's what we're committed to and hopefully that will be able to continue. If not, we're still going to be (well) situated because we're a strong athletic and academic program."' Possibly soon to be #15 & #16 in bold. Those happen and I've nailed my prediction on the #13-16 teams. The ACC will soon be split with north & south divisions. North: BC, UConn, Syracuse, Pitt, Rutgers, Maryland, VT, Virginia South: Miami, Wake, UNC, Duke, NC St. FSU, GT, Clemson

Is this guy nuts? Unify? Bro they're scrambling like fucking cockroaches. Right now the president of Iowa State is on the phone with Dr Strangelove wondering how to stop this doomsday device that is set to go off in Ames. You now have to wonder if Texas will be joining OU and Boone Pickens U in the Pac 12 or if Texas stays put and "saves" the Big 12.
Now Texas...there's a potential SEC school. With the ACC expanded, SEC expansion is now imminent. Rumor is now 16 teams. Cakes, WV might sneak in after all. Edit - my dreams for the expansion West T A&M Texas - cant get both so either +Mizzou East Clemson or GA Tech NC or Virginia school. Likelihood of WVu getting into the East is at 45%. The SEC has no problem fronting 20,000,000 to get a team upgraded out of the ACC. Our TV share is bigger and the league is more respected. Me personally? I'd rather keep it at 12 teams but then we're not the best conference in the world anymore...
