schottys plays dont work, and when they do it is the result of not only perfect execution but great playmaking ability by the players on the field. if LT doesnt break a couple dudes ankles a game then we lose a lot more games. schottys gameplan from the start is shit. not to be a total dick here but i blame a lot of marks picks on schotty even. his plays are telegraphed and routes are shit. often times hell have recievers interfering with each other downfield. it must be suffocating working in his offense, and painstaking when you have to put forth the extra effort just to be mediocre. if he had any salt at all with a talent pool like the jets the offense would be putting up much bigger and more consistent numbers.

seriously everyone seems to forget that before revis saved the game we could have already scored the winning points and not been desperate for someone to make a play. defense came up huge for us and to not get a gameball should show the confidence he has in schotty coming into a game. the defense let up some points, but the offense staggered and limped its way to a field goal given to them by the defense. how much leeway is an nfl coach going to get in this fucking town? its ridiculous. the offense needs to be held to the same standards as the defense. schottys gotta go. (maybe someone should make that a youtube video sung to janies got a gun.)

The facts, as I said earlier today, are that the Jets had three first downs in the first quarter, running eleven plays. Even the three and out that was the first possession included two completed passes, the problem being the first play, their first offensive play from scrimmage, was the play Hunter gave up that sack, putting them in second and long.

Call me crazy, but I don't blame Schotty 100% for Hunter's poor play.

The Cowgirls dominated TOP in the first quarter. So the Jets did not score. So? When they got the ball in their second possession, good play calling led to three first downs. Their fourth set of downs ran out of gas on pass incompletions, one long and one short.

They started off slow due to Dallas TOP and poor execution on some pass plays, and the sack. That is not 100% the fault of the OC.

    Facts.

so it was Brian's fault we didn't score on the last 2 drives before the INT?

The D was the reason we were playing catch up all night, Mark and the pass O kept us in the game. He didn't execute late but does every failure of the O have to be the OC's fult? Did you read that article about the detroit game where Rex made the call to continue trying to run? but I guess that was the OCs fault too, right?

Hunter is a first year starter going against a guy who is likely considered the best pass rusher in the game. I wouldn't call that a good move by the OC to not take that into account. He is the one player going into the game that had to be accounted for on every pass play.

I did not say the OC has NO responsibility for that play. Responsibility is shared by the FO, who decided to have Hunter as the starting RT, along with Ryan and the entire CS, particularly Callahan who is a high profile coach responsible for the OL, and of course Hunter himself.

NOt all on SChotty. That's my point.

I don't think when you go against Dallas you can afford not to double him on every passing attempt unless it's a quick drop or a screen. He ran over D'Brick one on one. He simply can't be covered one on one and we shouldn't have been in that situation on play one if we had a game plan. I can't blame Hunter for physically not being able to block him.

    All right.

It is Rex Ryan's fault that:

    1. Hunter was left to block Ware 1 on 1 with absolutely no help whatsoever.
    2. Offense went 3-and-out at Dallas 46
    3. Schotty was sitting on his ass till the play clock wound down to 15 seconds on nearly every offensive play.

    Happy now?

I can find more faults, but decided to stop.

I'm gonna need to pay more attention to this 15 second thing. I seem to remember mark having a lot of time to make adjustments at the line on Sunday. Not something I was paying close attention to though.

Bottom Line: It's a combination of things.

    1. Sanchez isn't that good yet. I still really like him, and I have confidence in him being the guy, but the lack of experience excuse only lasts so long. He's making small steps towards getting better, and it's impossible to judge him yet for this season, but he leaves a lot of plays on the field, and he certainly wasn't clutch against Dallas.

    2. Schottenheimer's play calls leave something to be desired. I've never been a big fan of his gameplans. Seems like he's always trying to out-smart other teams, and it doesn't work.

    3. The supporting cast around Sanchez isn't as good as it was last year right now. This could change when Plaxico and Mason have more time to work with Mark. But Braylon is better than either of them, and Mason's first game made me miss Cotchery a little.

Again, too early to make full judgments, but given that Sanchez needs time to adjust to the new weapons, Plaxico needs time to shake off the rust from 2.5 years off, and Hunter is the full-time RT over Woody are downgrades. I think the o-line will be adequate, but if Mangold, Brick, or Moore goes down, I have no confidence in the backups keeping Sanchez healthy.

I'm not a big Schottenheimer fan. If the Vikings or someone wants a new coach after this season, I would not shed a tear if we lost him. But that's not changing. This is a big year for Mark Sanchez. It's year 3 in the NFL. Time to become a quality quarterback. I love some of the signs he's showed, getting to back-to-back AFCCs shows that he certainly doesn't wilt under pressure, but the inconsistencies show up far too often.

Great response. Too many seem to have a need to attack Schotty but they never say that REX has final responsibility for the team. If he wants GROUND & POUND, that is what the OC does.

If SCHOTTY is so bad why hasn't REX noticed and replaced him? I suppose he sees that Schotty's game plans and play calling got the team with a raw QB to the AFC Championship game two years in a row.

We often see the attacks on Schotty but never see who the attackers are suggesting would be a better OC for the Jets and Sanchez. Further, I wonder if ever has dawned on Schotty's critics that his playcalling has bgeen tempered and limited by having such a raw QB and a HC who demands a GROUND & POUND Ball Control type of game. This year the QB has some experience and neither he nor Schotty should have any problems to excel. But if they do, its up to REX to do something about it if they fail miserably. Please let the record state that Callahan's OL had a very bad outing and failed to protect Sanchez vs the Cowbells. Should we be looking for a replacement? I didn't think so either!

Well. right. That wasn't happening all the time - but it was happening with the majority of the snaps. Even during the second half - during the crunch time. When Mark went to the line to start the cadence, play clock had about 7 seconds or so (my major gripe) and the ball was snapped at :02 or :01. (Same shit was happening with Dallas offense as a matter of fact - and of course there were a lot of folks who called out Garrett for relaying the play too damn late. Either way, you cannot deny it's a bad business no matter how you slice it.)

    4th Quarter = Genius Schotty

    3rd Quarter = Good/Ok Schotty

1st and 2nd = Kelly Bundy with a headset on.

It's a constant pattern with him.

Good point but I feel Rex gave Schotty and Sanchez the chance this game to see what they could do through the air against the hurt secondary of the Cowboys (44 attempts is alot) and limit the G&P. Didn't totally excel but was average!

I guess we will wait and see with Sanchez now having the ability to audible at the line.

Well, Rex is the head coach. Everything the team does should go through him. That's his job title. So he should have a hand in the whole team. It's more Schottenheimer's fault, but ultimately, everything falls on the head coach.

Is it more on Schottenheimer? Certainly, but just because Rex is a defensive guy doesn't mean he's blameless when there are offensive problems.

Tanny is responsible for Rex and Woody is responsible for Tanny. Since Schotty isn't all that good, it is fairly clear that Woody should be fired...
