it shouldn't be a trap game......only 2 seasons ago the Jags came into Giants stadium underdogs and walked out with a win......one of those brutal losses that season that almost cost us the playoffs. Rex and Co owe them one. Anyways, different time and different team, but until we see more from our beloved Jets, I'm not confident about any game at this point.
Couldnt have been happier with the way this team fought back in this past game. At 24-10 in the 4th qtr a lot of teams would have packed it but not this team. Ever since Rex came aboard this team has shown toughness, resilience, and heart. What better night to show that than 9/11. That being said we have to just manhandle this jaguars team this next game i don't want this game being close. I want this team to break away from close games against inferior teams. There is no excuse yea there is gonna be some headscratching moments and bumps in the road in the beginning of the season with the lockout situation but everyone is goin through it including the jags. We are a much better team than them we got to win this game decisively.
it sounds like the entire Jags board (4 guys) believes MJD and Mike Thomas will school the Jets next weekend. http://forum.jaguars.com/index.php?showtopic=696980
I was just over there curious to what the Jags fans were saying about this up-coming game. Most of them have the Jags leaving with the win which is what I expected. From what I got over there was: -MJD should be able to run it down our throats all game -There slot wr should put up a big game -Their defensive line is superior to Dallas d line so they should have no problem putting Sanchez on his ass all game -Sanchez sucks so he's gonna throw a bunch of int and incompletions in the grass all game -Our running game should not even be a concern to them -They hope their tight ends our healthy -They don't know who our safety's are My favorite -It's advantageous that they don't have an elite WR for Revis to shut down so they don't have to worry about WR taking out their best WR.
I saw that a couple of days ago they should definitely curb their enthusiasm a bit, mjd and Thomas are nice players but they still have Luke mccown as their qb. I can see Rex stacking the box and seeing if they can beat us with their 2,3 receivers, and Lewis.
Few things.... 1) If Eric Smith is covering Mercedes Lewis, we are going to be in deep trouble. He is another prolific TE.... 2) Drew Coleman starts for them and while he does make a big play every now and then, he for the most part will not hang with Holmes or Plax 3) JAX relies on MJD but more so using him in the passing game. He is very dangerous on the RB screens and dumpoffs, so he needs to be brought down quickly. 4) They will throw Aaron Kampman(If Healthy, which he never is) at Wayne Hunter and will try and expose that so once again John Connor needs to be up and ready. I think the Jags lately have had the Jets number, winning I think 4 straight games with them? Jets are due for a win. 20-10 Jets.
I liked Coleman better than almost anyone while he was with the Jets, but he can only excel like he did here-- as a dime or possibly even a nickel corner. Coverage is not Coleman's strong point. He's a superior tackler and can make the big play, but he can't cover above-average receivers consistently. If he's assigned to Plaxico or Holmes, he's in over his head.
Aside from MJD, when they talk about their skill players beating our defenders, I can't help but say to myself "who???" ... who is gonna do what to our defense???". they have a few decent weapons, but the disparity in talent between us and the Jaguars is a mile wide. These aren't the Cowboys we're playing with top-of-the-league players like Bryant and Whitten to deal with. This is a game that top level teams win in a rocking chair on their home field. I believe we're a top level team and I expect to win this game by two scores. In fact, I'll be betting on it. Jets 24 - Jags 13
Mercedes Lewis is no bum. Hes a good run blocker and is a tall threat up the middle. He was also planned on being used as a WR on Sunday and was going to be a repeated target to the new Jags starting QB. Hes another TE that I think the Jets should worry about.
Mercedes Lewis is my concern. I think we will stack the box and BEG them to throw the ball. I see INTS all day
did somebody miss this gem? this was fucking hilarious "We need to completely cover MJD in helmets. If they tackle him, penalty. If they don't tackle him, touchdown. Get JDR on the phone! "
Per Twitter: @TheJetsStream: Jaguars TE Marcedes Lewis dealing with strained hamstring, per @taniaganguli. Potentially, a big loss for Jags' offense on Sun vs Jets #nyj If Lewis is out, the Jags are really in for some trouble come Sunday.
