Free agent OLB/DE Tully Banta-Cain is scheduled to visit the Jets Tuesday, a source tells Scout.com. The Raiders put Banta-Cain through a physical last week and his surgically repaired abdomen muscle passed. Once up to game speed, the ex-Patriot could give the Jets' pass rush a boost off the edge -- he has 14.5 sacks over his last 31 games. They wouldn't have to guarantee Banta-Cain's contract for the season if he's signed this week.
If he is in shape there isn't much "getting up to speed" necessary for somebody who will have one job, kill Brady.
they most likely bring him in just for pats knowledge. plus a vet pass rusher isnt a bad thing to have.
He doesn't really have any knowledge. They are a completely new defense that he has had no training in. I think they are looking to gauge his explosiveness to the QB and his motor. I doubt he'd be able to give much if any insight on the Pats
I expected this thread to be about what peanuts taste like when you pick them out of poo. I guess I should have just ignored who the author was and figured it would be something interesting.
didnt realize he didnt make it to camp. did notice that his numbers over the last two years (based on what i see, last years numbers were low due to bellichick benching him over behavior) were very impressive. as a situational pass rusher, he could be a nice addition for us.
At this point, this is a no brainer. I was leery of giving this guy a multi million dollar deal in the offseason, but seeing the Pats passing game, his skills might come in handy. -X-
Always has been one of my favorite names in the NFL.. it's as of George Lucas was there at his birth and named him after a character in one of the Star Wars movies. "Lord Vader, Tully Banta-Cain has has reported seeing Obi Wan in a cantina in Mos Eisley"
The Patriots passing game is good, no doubt. But Miami's defensive front looked like their feet were cemented into the ground. Absolutely no pressure + poor secondary play = 517 yards passing.
