Dallas' D was flying all over the place yet our O pretty consistently moved the ball and scored points. I'm not giving him a p[ass, he called a fine game but no matter what he does we have a group of whiny posters who need to attack him just like they will w/ the next OC. It's what fans do, for EVERY team. If something doesn't go right they blame the OC. Can we give Rob Ryan and the Dallas D some credit?
What's funny with you is that everytime a poster takes a position contrary to yours, you regard them as "whiney." I suppose that this is just part of living in your clouded-version of reality. When the OC doesn't adapt his manner of play to counter an opposing D which was brutal, yes, you call out the OC. If you weren't so busy giving the guy a rusty trombone day in and day out, maybe you'd see that the rest of us aren't making waves just for the hell of it.
I should be more specific. I'm blaming Sanchez's decision-making squarely on the Sean Lee interception, not on the lack of consistency on the offense last night. Sanchez did well despite Dallas' constant pressure and Schotty's ridiculous 3rd down calls. Overall I'm content with Sanchez's performance last night. If you were with me last night you'd know I was no fan of Schotty's gameplan last night. Too many head scratchers for my liking.
It is whiny complaining about Schottenheimer. Do I think he's perfect? of course not, do i question some of his calls and gameplans? Sure but overall he's a good OC and that's obvious to most non Jet fans. Every fanbase whines about their OC. How did he not adjust? we are a run first team, Dallas had injuries int hes econdary and we attacked them through the air all night. No matter what we do fans like you will always blame the OC.
junc, you're 100% correct. We Don't Which makes extended pass plays inexcusable. Dallas should have been in the dime all night long.
We didn't come out of the gate exploiting their secondary, which was already depleted before the first snap. We started out with his best, unremarkable, vanilla playcalling- runs up the middle and not compensating for an aggressive pash-rush when Sanchez needed time in the pocket. Wait, can we still use the excuse that it's only the preseason and we don't want to show our hand? He's guilty of not turning it on and adapting sooner- with the weaknesses in their secondary the game should not have been as close as it was, with a QB like Sanchez at the helm. With the ability-level of the players on this team, we shouldn't be playing catch up in so many games. Hey, I'll give you credit, some people are content to just sit idle and embrace mediocrity. He did call a good game in some respects, but there are glaring deficiencies in others.
Let's put our other nonsese from the past aside for now, I don't think he called a perfect game or even a great game but I don't think playcalling held us back. I thought Dallas' D was great and they deserve credit for disrupting our O and our O deserves credit for hanging in there and keeping us in the game. Mark wasn't great but he made plays to keep the game close and our STs made the big play.
You are too generous...C- at best. We didn't win because of Schitty's play calling, we won because Romo dove at the goal line and fumbled on our 1 and then went on to play catch with Revis. We lose by at least 14 and maybe 21 without those plays.
It would be fair to say that the play calling was less than ideal... the execution at times was piss-poor, and Rob Ryan obviously did his part to raise the bar with the Cowboy D. I'm glad after three and a half hours we can count that game as a win. We got a little help from all over to do it, mostly Tony Romo.
Enough with the excuses. We put tons of pressure on our defense to stop a team with a bunch of weapons, because we couldn't move the ball. Mark was inconsistent and Schotty's play calling sucked. To the people bringing up the pressure as an excuse...STOP! We have the better Ryan on our sidelines. We should know how to execute against the blitz. We didn't run a screen till damn near the end of the half. If I'm "whiney" for complaining about Schotty too, so be it. Theres no mystery to why A.) Rex feels the need to go out his way to defend Schotty after games, including last night and after our loss to the Steelers last year B.) Sanchez does better without the huddle C.) The fact that we were the 2nd worst team in 1st quarter offense in the NFL last year. D.) Tom Moore was brought here "as a consultant". It's just like the Knicks situation. They brought in Mike Woodson because D'Antoni can't coach defense. That's just masking the problem. If you have a guy who can't do his job...just get rid of the guy! PERIOD!
Schotty called a fine game? We were playing from behind all fucking night, against a team that had scrubs in the secondary. We should've ran the score up on Dallas. I'm tired of Schotty's presnap motion bullshit....just play to your skill players' strengths, you're not fooling ANYBODY with presnap motion. It's the same garbage every year. Show some versatility in the playcalling, Schotty.
Look at the positive possibilities, maybe Miami will hire him as their HC and not Rob Ryan when the season is over.
I can't understand Schotty's fascination with pass plays that are a yard or two short of the first down markers. It's like he has an undying belief in yards after the catch but doesn't allow the receivers to get the degree of separation necessary to achieve those additional yards.
Period. Game. Set. Match. (Oh, and BTW, the Lee interception , was all Rob Ryan. They saw that on film. Lee turns him over to the safety and mirrors the route underneath (Shonn missed an easy tackle), but Romo comes over and congratulates him after the play, nothing on Mark, or Brian there)
Pre-snap motion helps Mark identify coverage, he said it helps him feel more comfortable and it worked on every reception to LT in the flats. Don't talk about stuff you don't know.
Now we have to blow teams out? did you not notice how well the Dallas D played? do they get any credit?
Dallas has a suspect secondary to begin with and THOSE guys were hurt. Essentially, we were playing against backups to bums! While I despise Schotty, I agree. You have to have motion to help identify coverage. My only problem is, we don't capitalize off of our motion. The guys just trot across the feel and the D knows they are just a decoy to find out whether it's man or zone. Teams like NE and Greenbay put guys in motion and create mismatches with slot receivers on LBs and DEs.
