He's done some of the following stuff: He got benched by Dennis Erickson for a half too. The guy physically has the tools to be real good but I have questions about his football smarts Mr. E. You can't tell me that this type of stuff will be tolerated on the NFL level.
I am not questioning his ability or technique but he has tendencies to be out of control on the field...
The videos you posted have nothing to do with football smarts or instincts. It's an over-competitiveness, an anger problem if you will. He is not a bad kid off the field and everyone knows it. When he suits up, he's the baddest dude on the field. If you want to knock him for something you can say that he's immature and that will most likely change considering he's only 20 years old. Kinda reminds me of Ray Lewis a bit. That kind of stuff won't be tolerated at any level, but it still doesn't make Manti Te'o the better football player. too bad we dont need a mlb. Rex would love this guy. Pray to god a team in the NFC gets this kid and not Pit NE or Balt
We can only hope that he stays for his senior year and Bart Scott decides to hang 'em up after 2012. He'd be the perfect replacement for the Mad Backer.
An ILB prospect that's drawing comparisons to Ray Lewis... Burfict is a mad man. He would improve our run defense even more, which would be incredibly scary.
Unless that story of punching a teammate in the locker room was false, I would have to be curious what would make him go and blindside a team mate with a punch. I do think he has everything to be really good, he just needs to fix up with what we agree with: Cutting down on stupid penalities and not being too over aggressive. Te'O is a great talent though and has improved his tackling each and every year and should be a top LB picked in the draft though Mr. E.
Watched Burfict today and he is the same guy as he was last year....he will show you greatness(That sack in the 4th was great, RB had no shot) and I loved him trying to draw the O-Line off by constantly coming right in front of the center before pulling back when the ball gets snapped. But then he showed me some "Ugh" moments like the defensive holding and a missed tackle in the backfield when he wanted to go for a big hit rather than wrap up the tackle that made the play go from -3 yards to a 1st down conversion. Still though, the man has great talent and if he can fix a few of the problems he has, than he could be Patrick Willis/Jon Beason esque(I don't know about Ray Lewis Mr. E, the guy is one of the best of all time). However in fairness to Burfict, I am starting to think that this undiscipline play falls on Coach Dennis Erickson more so than the players as Burfict is not the only one who is making these penalties. Would not surprise me, Erickson had zero control as the 49ers head coach. So frustrating though because he is as good as Electric says but he makes some head scratching plays.
Te'o showed very little tonight in the Michigan game to me. Floyd is a Beast though and ND's young QB could blossum over time. Tough loss for them.
Te'O was very good on the tackles. Didn't force a fumble or make an INT but he was very good. One play he missed a tackle but the 2nd time he was put in a brutal spot of either trying to chase Robinson only to see Denard dump it to his TE for the 1st down or go and help cover the TE and see Robinson run for the 1st down and more. Te'O chose to watch Robinson, which in turn made Robinson pass to the TE for the 1st. He wasn't flashy but he was very big on the containment against Denard Robinson until the Wolverines had Robinson run on the outside and away from Te'o and the middle of the field. All 4 members of the secondary stunk though, including S Harrison Smith. Pretty rough 2 games for him thus far in the year.
To me he didn't look decisive in his approach like you want a MLB to be. That could be due to Robinson's game breaking ability, but at times he really hesitated. Against a team with only one real weapon I expect to see a lot more of him. He looks skilled, but not fast and lacking the killer attitude I like in a linebacker. The Wolverines on the other hand deployed a lot of similar pressure packages to Rex's defense despite playing a base 43. If that staff stays there long enough it will be an interesting breeding ground for Saftys and LB's who already know the delayed, stunting, and overlaod bliz's we run alot of. They were horrible at them in the first, showing thier hand far too often before the snap, but got better at them as the game wore on. I'm looking forward to seeing that staff get thier on players in place.
mmm what? replacing Bart Scott will be insanely difficult. without Scott this run defense goes severely downhill our LB depth is fucking garbage I dont care what anyone says. id take Burfict with a 1st rd pick in a heartbeat. unless some ridiculous talent at WR fell. worst case scenario you just Let Bart Scott rush blindsides when theyre both on the field. i am curious to Burficts abilities in coverage, all ive heard was he was below average in zone until this yr where he cleaned it up a little? can anyone confirm that?
Burfict would be an incredibly pick if he somehow fell to us. We need speed/aggressiveness in our LB core.
