Sanchez will be much improved this year. Tony Romo has 1 playoff win to Sanchez's record tying 4 road playoff wins. Sanchez Postseason QBR- 94.3 T. Romo Postseason QBR- 80.8 Tony has played in 4 playoff games, and Mark has played in 6. Romo- 4 TD, 2 INT Sanchez 9 TD, 3 INT Romo- Completion %- 59.9 Sanchez- Completion %- 60.5 So Sanchez knows how to play and win big games, Romo does not. I've been saying this whole offseason that Sanchez will not start playing every game like it's a playoff game. This is the year where it all comes together. No doubt this is a big game, it's 9/11, the season/home opener, Ryan vs. Ryan, his Dad is a Fireman, and it's all being broadcast nationally. I fully expect Sanchez to be lights out Sunday night and outplay Romo.
How would we have had homefield if we won week 1? That gives us 1 more win and we still finish 2 behind the Pats. By the way, week 1 was all Rex. he is spooked by the Raven defense.
That's not a fair comparison. The Cowboys only have one playoff win in the last 15 years. How can you expect Romo to win a game if the team never gets in the playoffs?
espn_macmahon Tim MacMahon Terence Newman is officially out Sunday. Tyron Smith and Phi Costa are questionable.
If that's true, that must have changed from yesterday. Cro usually plays the split end and that's Dez Bryant for the Cowboys. I suppose Miles Austin's hamstring injury could change things.
Personally, I would put Revis on Bryant since he's the more physical corner despite the obvious size difference between him and Cromartie. Cromartie should be on Austin, partially due to Austin's hamstring injury, but also because Austin's game is a little more finesse than Bryant's. Bryant could kill Cromartie on slant and dig routes if Cro doesn't bump him off the line.
i think i may have read it on that dallas fan's informative blog... but i read somewhere that Cro will be on Austin, and Revis is on Dez. again, i don't remember where i read that, it could be just a fan's perspective.
Conjecture (AKA bullshit). The team never announces game plan decisions like that before the game. When a team has 1 obvious primary receiver, Revis usually takes him most of the game. When there is more than one, they tend to move him around more. I expect to see them changing up coverages and rushes quite a bit as Romo's ability to read defenses is second only to Corky, the retarded kid in the TV show 'Life Goes On".
We would have had Tie breakers vs the STEELERS@ 12-4 and would have been the #2 seed and would of had all gaves @ home except the NE game. That 1 loss cost us 2 spots. That's what I mean by homefield not homefield throughout. Maybe I should have said home games....
Tedy Bruschi has us as his survivor team this week. I'd rather have the Jets next week but Bruschi's faith in this team speaks volumes to me.
i will NEVER fucking forget that. one of my best friends is a HUGE cowboys fan we watched that game and he was going crazy the whole time, then calmed down as he thought it was in the bag. cant say id want to ever react well to watching the jets choke dong like that. which is why the 1st half of that AFCCG last year was infuriating.
i said somewhere id like to see Rex follow Dennis Thurman's sentiment in challenging Cro to revert back to his All Pro rookie year when he was jamming people all day. obviously i think Bryant is more dangerous but one thing you can also count on is Romo gambling and throwing jump balls for Bryant. Cro could potentially feast on that. that being said I'd feel more comfortable if they rotated who they covered. as long as Austin is splitting back inside in the slot I want Revis on him. other than that I'd like to see Revis on Bryant in short yardage.
We couldn't have been the #2 seed b/c we didn't win the division. We would have been the 5 seed, opened w/ KC and then possibly played at Pitt in rd 2(if Bal beat Indy). The only way to get home games in postseason is either to win your division OR be a 5 seed and host the 6 seed(like we would have done in '09 had Bal beaten Indy in the div rd).
You guys are great fans here! I'm very impressed with the level of football discussion around here, and also with the level of class you've shown to an outsider... Thanks... I kinda glossed over it in my last post, but the OL is my biggest concern... I think we'll be okay, even if Romo gets sacked 3-5 times, as long as he doesn't get injured, or fumble when sacked... He could even get away with throwing a pick or two, but Dallas cant allow the Jets to score a defensive TD, or have too many really short fields... Even if things go wrong for Dallas at times, and they will, Romo and company will still be able to put some points on the board... To those of you who are saying Romo is not clutch, and that he can't win in the playoffs, etc... Please understand, Romo is held to a standard that no other QB is held to... He catches more flack for his teams failures than any other QB, and outside of the Seattle game in his first year, Romo would be way down on my list of who to blame... Put Romo on the Jets and Sanchez on the Cowboys for this game, and Dallas is a much bigger underdog... Dallas' team is inexperienced and not as talented overall, Romo at the helm is the only thing that gives them a fighting chance....
I'll be suprised if Smith plays. and if he does rex better blitz the fuck out of him. the little I saw from Smith is he can manhandle people, but being a rook (20 at that) ive seen him make some horrible blitz pickup reads. test that knee and make him move!
Maybe from where you are sitting. I think Eli Manning and others take as much (or more) heat, and Peyton Manning last year. Generally, the teams with top ranked quarterbacks don't tank as often as the Cowboys have, so they tend not to draw heat for it. Comparisons between Romo and Sanchez are really pointless aren't they? Unless they are playing each other head to head in ring toss or something. A lot of teams fates rest on one man's right arm. The Jets are one of the few teams in the league that can beat you on either side of the ball. There were games last year where the offense was flat and the defense picked up the win. Sometimes the offense will pick up the defense. Romo goes down last year, and the Cowboys defense still allows over 25 points a game. I think the biggest obstacle the Cowboys need to overcome is the general manager.
Good news...no longer have to worry as much about Schitty. http://espn.go.com/new-york/story/_/id/6945835/new-york-jets-putting-their-trust-mark-sanchez "..... ..... That "something," according to players and coaches, is Mark Sanchez -- specifically, his command of the offense. It hasn't been advertised, but the coaching staff quietly has given the third-year quarterback more freedom to change plays at the line of scrimmage. Sanchez has come a long way from the color-coded wrist band, circa December 2009. "He's becoming more of a Peyton Manning-type," guard Matt Slauson said. "We get up to the line and he has the ability and know-how to just change everything. ... He's going to be a totally different player this year." When he faces the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night at MetLife Stadium, Sanchez will be able to read the defense and make adjustments, if necessary. It will be a dramatic departure from last year's opener against the Baltimore Ravens. In that mess of a game, he was a Stepford Jet, brainwashed by the coaches into following their conservative script. ... ... "
