Let me correctly answer my own question to you. Joe is on the radio somewhat routinely. They don't talk much about SB lll anymore. They bring him on to lend his football expertise on his favorite football team. Sorry if you haters don't appreciate his honest opinions, which are usually right on.
He doesn't have an expertise on today's game and today's Jet team. Tell me about these opinions that are right on? was he right on about Edwards last year? he has a point about Burress' durability but we don't know what will happen so please list all the "right on" opinions?
No one sets up the bait better than Junc. Champ is a good runner up, but their styles are different. After the opponent takes the bait, Junc wears 'em down with facts. Champ just wears 'em down, period.
He is talking about his opinion on Burress. About what he has seen from him thru his carrer. we will see if he is right. I think he does have an expertise on todays game, and apparently so do the professionals. How much has the game changed. When it comes down to it, it still is blocking and tackling, alweays has been. You can say, in your opinion, he doesn't have an expertise on todays game, but not that "he doesn't." How long have you been watching football?
The game has changed dramatically since Joe played and I'm not sure he pays enough attention to know the difference. Just from listening to his interviews I don't get the impression he does.
That's it. You're doing good. Don't take the bait or you're fucked like MB Green says. The best way to avoid total destruction is to not take the bait. Right now, Junc is feverishly researching everything that Namath has said for the past five years that has turned out incorrect. If you take the bait, you're truly fucked because he'll paste it all on hyere from his Word files. You're still okay for now. With Champ, when you tangle with him, you're kind of fucked right from the beginning. He'll wear you down until you just have to walk away.
so he can have an opinion, but fans can't? look i get it, you remember the greatness that he brought to this franchise, and you're right... most fans of hte current franchise weren't alive and therefor don't get what it is he did for the Jets. but my opinion of Joe is that he shouldn't put himself in a position to tarnish his legend. Tell me honestly if you think his antics with Suzie Kolber didn't do just that.
Thanks for the advice. By the way, I just looked at an ESPN interview with Joe, on the current Jets from a few weeks ago. He wasn't in a wheelchair, spoke rather intelligently, and praised Sanchez. When asked if the Jets were going to the SB this year, he said, he hoped so, and that it would be difficult with a lot of competition. Sounds senile to me.
Great post! You really nailed the whole slice of that period, war, family, team...Hope you and your dad get to enjoy another one together. On a side note I'm guessing your pretty old, you don't sound senile, and you still can figure out what's going on in the modern game of football?
He couldn't have said that, because he will likely be drunk and the suite will be filled with hookers.
His antics with Suzie Kolber were a mistake. Everyone makes mistakes. I here people saying he sounds drunk, everytime he talks. That's ridiculous.
