I'll almost never condemn a decision like that. I'd sooner condemn the play choice. I bet statistics show you make that seven times out of ten. I'd also bet those odd go up to nine out of ten if you run a QB sneak.
Saints lose this game because on 3rd and 1 in scoring territory they give the ball to rookie Mark Ingram instead of Pierre Thomas. Then on 4th and inches they try play-action instead of trying to pound it in there again. If that's Rex Ryan you know he's calling 2 straight run plays up the middle with our bruiser.
I don't know, I'm not sure if that play call is my decision I'm putting in Mark Ingram in his first NFL game as a pro in a big spot to pick up a yard instead of a proven power back who has been in big situations before. Regardless Saints had a comeback in the bag until the stupid 4th and inches play action call.
Really Collinsworth, Darren Sproles is the Saints best hope for a comeback? You'd think that it would be hard to forget Brees with his Super Bowl MVP and his freaky face mole thingy, but here we are.
I understand what you're saying. Pierre Thomas may not possess the power that Ingram runs with but they are almost identical in size and weight, in that situation I'm calling on my veteran running back. It's not like PT is Darren Sproles.
