Remember last year when everyone said greene was gonna the rb1 but instead LT was the rb1 and Greene ended up as rb2? That screwed a lot of people.
With the philosophy and style that Rex seems to want an offense to run, I'd be surprised if we ever have one main RB. I feel like we will always have at least 2 good RB's that share the load. One guy may get slightly more carries, for example how LT did this past year. However with the way that Rex wants to ground-and-pound, I'd expect we will always be a runningback by committee team under him.
Yeah, damn that stupid fantasy football. Those people are lazy unlike us real fans who write the whole phrase.
No matter how the carries are split - I just really hope that Shotty let's a RB get a rhythm going. I hate how he subs RB's every play rather than letting a guy stay on the field for a series or two.
You have to weigh the effects of rhythm vs the effects of different looks/change of pace RB. Sometimes the gameplan will call for either. There were times where I wished Schott would leave Greene in to wear down their D, but I don't see it as one of Schott's noteable issues.
This post/bump may be a little selfish because I'm an outsider (Rams fan), but I just traded Hillis for Greene in my fantasy league. I just wanted to ask all the educated and dedicated Jets fans on these boards if Greene really is going to be the workhorse back this year, or is Rexy feeding us a bunch of crap like last year and intends to use LT at the goal line? I can understand on passing downs, but I made the trade because I truly believe Greene will be a beast if he plays. Does he see 75-25 this year and will he get carries when the Jets are in the red zone?
I dont blame Greene for starting off slow last year, the way L.T. was running was ridcicolous. I think that fumble in the Ravens game REALLY hurt him last season at the start. Because we were near FG range and about to go up 9-0 or 13-0 going into halftime. Instead he fumbled it and the Ravens went down the field with a help of roughing a kicker call and PI and went up 7-6.
I think he will get more carries then LT and early on this year. The guy I would worry about taking points away from Greene is McKnight. My gut tells me JoeMc is gonna get some PT this year.
i dunno how much it hurt his psyche, but it definately soured the coaches belief in him. as for this year, I doubt its 75-25 in favor of greene 65-35 I would guess. But Greene will get the majority of the goal line carries, unless Powell or Connor show some kind of super nose for the endzone which we have never seen... Oh, but if you wanted reassurance, shouldnt you have asked before you made the trade?
So is it more Rex or Schotty that determines whether or not Greene is out there? And I really wanted Greene, so I went with my gut. After such a disappointment and the shift towards him over LT in the second half last year, it makes me think he's primed for a big role and should run away with the opportunity. Not to mention he runs behind a great offensive line on a run first-pass second team. If he gets the carries at the goal line, I know for a fact I won this deal. And oh yeah, he gets to run behind the friggin' terminator.
