This is just a joke of a move. The timing couldn't be more terrible.

The Jags are now around 35 million under the cap. There's a big difference between getting rid of your starter and rebuilding because you acknowledge you're a pretender, and tanking the season on purpose.

For all the bad money they spent on defense, their offense is totally bereft of talent at receiver, and Maurice Jones-Drew's knee is questionable. Also, there is 35 million dollars on the table. I'm not saying spend like a drunken sailor, but at least acquire one impact player for your roster.

Won't help Del Rio, he's playoffs or unemployment.

I saw that... 8 years with a shy over .500 record now and I would be surprised if they go 8 - 8 this year. Sure he didn't have the best support from the FO but this is still a brilliantly mediocre tenure.

Yeah I mean he didn't get thrown on for like 100 yards in a half or anything...

I'm really not sure why anyone is too surprised by this. They did the exact same thing with Leftwich, releasing him a week before the opener in 2007. The only difference is that Garrard had been a member of the team for 5 seasons prior to being anointed.

Maybe Del Rio really wants Luck...Would be interesting to see if Jags get #1 pick if they go with Luck or stick with Gabbert.

Another douchebag owner, nothing to see here. Del Rio has that team over-achieving every year despite an obvious dearth in talent, compared to the rest of their division.

Del Rio is posting a .508 record, maybe that is over-achieving in a tough division but that's still nothing to brag about...

If Del Rio gets fired for this upcoming bad season, which is inevitable, watch him go to the Dolphags next year as a head coach over Sporano. Book it.

I plan on going to the Jags game Week 2. I expected to beat up on them, but now I especially expect us to do damage.

I know the NFL is a business but that's kind of a slap in the face to Garrard. Maybe they're trying to win the Luck lotto but what about Gabbert? Fuckin' insane man.
