What a great episode. Can't believe that was Manny from Scarface as the cartel leader, time is a bitch. It'll be interesting to see how Gus plans to deal with him now that he's fucked up the other 2 guys that were at the meeting. As much as he keeps his cool most of the time and calls himself a businessman it's pretty clear now that he's got at least a little revenge minded psycho in him. Plus you've got Walt now having to contemplate making a movie against Jesse.

And flashbacks on LOST were time killers, it was rare that they were significant or added anything to the overall narrative. The Wire is probably the only show that has Breaking Bad beat as far as continuity and establishing seemingly minor characters only to have them pay off big time seasons later in some cases.

I think he meant partners as in they were gay. Seriously.

I kind of thought so too.

If so, Omar Little is still the baddest faggot in TV history. Gus is right behind him though.

    (see what I did there...???)

Haha no I didnt at first.

I dunno the look on his face and sobbing near the pool was more than losing a buisness partner or good friend.

Not to mention this personal vendetta he has with the memebers present.

Absolutely. I was exaggerating a bit. More of a huge compliment to BB than a slight on LOST.

I'm guessing Gus was tied up in Pinochet's takeover, right around the early 70's. The time period of the flashback (late 70's, maybe early 80's?) would indicate Gus left Chile around then. He also said "yo fuck Pinochet" in the police interview, or something to that effect.

Gus is originally an American-born CIA operative who was sent into Chile in the late 60's to destabilize the commie-sensitive regime by means of economic terrorism. He left Chile after Pinochet's coup, cooked some chicken, sold some meth, emigrated to the US under a new name and now controls the largest chunk of organized drug traffic in the mid-west. He's also Walt's father.

    /LOST

    No, seriously, though- political refugee.

Watching the last 2 episodes now.

Does AMC have a deal with Chrysler to work the Dodge Challenger into every show on the network?

I actually thought Gus was going to try to say that was why he was in Gale's apartment when he left his prints there.

On a different note, I thought Hank was going to ask Gus what he had for dinner when he was at Gale's apartment to see if Gus described a vegan meal.

I would assume its because they are still using the same ingredients? You know, the stuff that was in the barrel they stole in season one?

No, that stuff ifs long gone.

Gus provides all their materials now....why would they still be using that stuff?

Signature or not, making it blue sure helps the cops and DEA track it and everyone who sells/distributes/mules it.

Don't you remember why they started using methylamine? I don't think Gus is providing them with thousands upon thousands of boxes of Sudafed.

I wonder if we'll be learning more about Madrigal Electromotive. They not only provided the industrial air filter but they also own a stake in Pollos Hermanos? Makes you wonder if this goes deeper than Gus, or if they somehow help him with the money-laundering. The Pollos franchise can't cover the sheer amount of money the meth brings in, but a multinational corporation might be able to.

Google tells me that "Madrigal," among many other things, is a small neighborhood in Santiago, Chile, the same city where Gus paid for Max's education.

    Food for thought.

Speaking of Max, he could be a connection for Hank to find out Gus's real name. If he couldn't find any record of Gus Fring in Chile, why not look up the friend he named a scholarship after?
