I thought he deserved a chance to start the season with us, and if he didn't show any sings of good play within the first few weeks, than we would release him.

Maybin getting cut wasn't surprising. He's a one trick pony who's one trick would get him destroyed in the NFL.

He was never going to see the field unless he played ST.

If Rex Ryan, who can talk up anyone on defense, and can get the most out of any defensive player, cuts you, you really cant play in the NFL. That goes for Gholston and that goes for Maybin.

He must have looked awful in practice to get cut after actually producing in pre-season. Oh well, at least we didnt waste a 1st on him..

That's not necessarily true, to quote Rex Ryan, it can just mean "you're good enough to play in the NFL, but not for the Jets"

Yeah that pretty much says it best.

Deep down inside I was kinda hoping that Maybin would be a surprising success and would overachieve his way onto the team. I was hoping it would be redemption for the Gholston mistake...

oh well, the dude can't play.

When u think about it, if the guy can't make it with the Bills and their pedestrian LBs, then he can forget about making the Jets squad. I liked what I saw, but I trust the CSs judgement.

From what I read, Maybin was considered a "luxury." They would have kept him if they didn't need the roster spot. They did, so he was let go. That doesn't mean he can't play in the NFL. It simply means he's not needed here.

yeah there's a lot of comparison between him and gholston. to me,
maybin can play in this league. he needs more bulk, to learn something other than speed rush, and the right situation. Rex was potentially that right situation.

Gholston, i don't think can play in this league. period.

Gholston can't play in arena league either. He might be a good fit against 6th graders though.

i don't know if it was ndmick, or mbgreen... one of them said this around when i first joined, and it stuck with me since. anywho, its all i can think of now.

"when gholston gets released, he'll finally be able to concentrate on his profesional body building career" - somethin along those lines.

point is, dude ain't a football player.

I'd rather have Mardy Gilyard, who I believe is salvageable and still has tremendous upside. I think he provides us with a dynamic we don't have at a position that's a major question.

I don't believe Maybin was necessarily better than Mauga, Westerman, or McIntyre as a pass rusher, and I think we'll probably have the opportunity to bring him back if needs be.

I would've liked to have seen if Rex could "fix" Maybin, but beyond that, I didn't care.

As for being better than Mauga, no way. That kid is going to be very good for us.

This thread is quite comical. It mirrors the Bills Message Boards from the past couple years.

What's comical is you being a Bills fan on a Jets forum. I guess you're like almost everyone else in Buffalo that is unemployed and bitter about having to live in the mistake by the lake and thus have nothing better to do.
