Jets resigned Aaron Maybin (9/28)

Discussion in 'New York Jets' started by Nesquik, Aug 17, 2011.

  1. I'm not sure it's debatable that the improved resources into the defensive line will increase the pass rush. The degree to it is debatable. Would it be better to have both a better line AND a better OLB speed rush? Yes, of course. But at least it's an improvement from last year.

There is always the CFL for Maybin. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers got his rights so I think he is going north if no team picks him up.

Thomas remains solid. He plays the run well and you won't see him getting lost in pass coverage. I doubt you see westerman take over for him full time this year. If you do it will probably be bad news for the defense as a whole because westerman isn't an every down OLB.

Interesting decision by the Jets. He played pretty damn hard and I thought he did well. I guess there must have been an attitude problem involved or something.

Preseason wonder. He had a great first step but his balance and strength were god awful. He was the 53rd guy on the roster and frankly I'm happy that Bellore and McIntyre beat him for a roster spot. Bellore has potential to be a long-term player and McIntyre has the strength, balance and tenacity to work his way onto a roster as a situational pass rusher. McIntyre could be the linebacker version of Mike DeVito.

Maybe a year in the CFL will help him grow but he's not an NFL ready player yet. At least not in the regular season.

    No attitude.

Maybin was going to be situational player and make zero impact on Special teams.

Depth was needed on the O-line and we picked up a 5th wideout with excellent numbers at the Univ of Cincy and a great special team player.

Shame. He already suffered by playing in Canada for two seasons with the Bills

the guy hasn't done anything in the NFL and didn't show anything to believe that would change.

that's right, Rex can make every player great, no matter their physical limitations.

    Da Ghost part 2

Told you he couldn't cut it. REX and CO got busy watching tape like I did. Way too many missed tackles. Played fast like a chicken with his head cut off! Mauga, Bellore, McEntyre, and Bearning all flat out played him! Period , end of story. Do any of you watch tapes? Potential is a fantasy. I perfer facts, here and now, in the present tense. He either can play or he can't. He can play, just not good enought to play for the JETS! Let him play for another loosing team. BYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybin would get swatted away like a fly vs a first string oline.

Calvin Pace has the perfect body type and Aaron Maybin is just too tiny. He has speed, his role would've been a glorified Drew Coleman.

NFL radio was at Bills camp and they said how Maybin would get tossed around by the ones. Gain 30-40 pounds and comeback.

Btw, 1.5 of his sacks vs second and third stringers were broken plays.

Said before we signed him that I didn't think Rex would be too interested since he's always seemed to prefer bigger OLBs over faster ones. Hopefully Rex envisions Westerman as his new Adalius Thomas.
