Lord no to B.Merriweather on my JETS
Horrible , and forget the pro Bowls. He's been a shoe in for injured players, worst default x2 pro bowl pick than David Garrard.
He is honestly pathetic, can't cover, can hit hard if he can even hit the guy, whiffs on more tackles than anyone in the league, bad angles.

That being said, I wouldn't be suprised if we signed him, our team has a knack for making moves based on fan and media speculation. Exactly how teams like the cubs and red sox (pre 2003) operated.

We already traded Rhodes, we don't need another safety who can't tackle

I disagree entirely. This isn't the 'let's sign Boomer Esiason so Reggie White will come here' Jets any more.

he's such a pussy. i always enjoyed watching him shit his pants if he knew he was going to take a hit from a receiver, but then if the receiver's defenseless he does everything he can to try and injure them.

he sucks. i don't know what more to say about him. stay off the jets.

10 1/2 million and I guess we are saving it for a rainy day. And I don't want to hear we are saving it to re-sign vets as we never do that during the year.

Speaking of that, when does the cap min/max numbers have to be met by?

Seems like there are still a lot of teams way under the 97% minimums.

I'd like to see us bring in another RB.
Not sure what he's got left in the tank but i see Chester Taylor's been released?

This is poor reasoning. Just because team 'x' cuts him doesn't mean team 'y' shouldn't at least take a look at him. The Jets are one of the best teams in the NFL in terms of assessing talent. If they think Avery is good enough to play for their team, then they would/should take a look at him regardless of the prior team he played for.

Maybin was cut by the Bills. The freakin' Bills, a team in need of ANY type of talent, yet the Jets picked him up. Should they have not taken a look at him cause of the team he played for? Do the Bills have a magical pass rush that I'm not aware of?

But I agree in a sense, Avery would never come here as a #5 receiver. I wasn't aware he did not play special teams, which decreases my interest in him, since the #5 WR would barely see the field anyway.

    Here's my list :

    -Kenny Iwebema ....DE/LB

    -Taveras Gooden.....LB

    -Antonio Coleman....LB

    -Jason Shirley.........NT

    -B Merriweather......S

    -Akwasi Ansah........CB/S

    -Chris Ogbommaya...RB

    -Kellen Clemens.......QB

    -Seyi Ajirotutu........WR

    -Mardy Gilyard........WR

    Sinorice Moss.........WR

Out of these players...RB Chris Ogbonnaya looked very good in Jets/Texans game. He looked better than all of Jets back-up RB' & catches screen passes great....He is a must have....IMO. He's a better RB than Powell or McKnight.

Taveras Gooden LB of Ravens.... unless he's hurt...he is a a young beast & tackling machine.

Akwasi Ansah CB/S ...I would love for Jets to sign him to practice squad.

Jason Shirley NT...Can never have too many NT's. 6'5" 345lbs...Don't know how you fit him on roster or practice squad, but guy was a load in Bengals/Jets game. Watch tape.

Walter McFadden CB ...Liked this guy from college...He makes plays. Good practice squad player.

Sinorice Moss WR....looked really quick during Jets/Eagles game. Good punt returner. Will definitely break a few during season. Not bad as 5th WR...lining up in the slot.

    Speed, SPEED>>>MORE SPEEED>>> on defense....

I don't get people saying we need more RB's as if Powell or McKnight aren't good at all / aren't 1st or 2nd year players.

And really, Sinorice Moss? Do we need two Kerley's on this team?

I would like Meriweather, safety is one of our weaker positions depth wise after the Lowery trade.

I'm surprised Gilyard got cut, wouldn't mind taking a flyer on him.

Bears have agreed to terms with S Brandon Meriweather on a one-year contract.

One we don't have to worry about.

Pro Bowl QB Tom Brady just released by Patriots. I think the Jets should go after him as their primary backup. I know he's on the downside of his career but he's still got something left in the tank.
