http://espn.go.com/nfl/preview11/team/_/name/nyj Oh and on top of that he predicts the Fins to have a top 3 defense and finish 2nd in the division. http://espn.go.com/nfl/preview11/team/_/name/mia It still suprises me how much the Jets are disrespected. Didnt all of these same morons predict the same shit last year saying we were frauds, and we were going to go 8-8, etc. How did that turn out?
Ok, there are four guys saying the Jets will finish 2nd and you focus on the only one saying we will be third? Come on, some perspective please.
one area of this team that is improved on paper from a year ago. Assuming he is right... which he isn't, our DL is better and so are our TEs and our QB, we'll go from AFC championship to 3rd in the division because we didn't get any better!? Tell me one area of the field where we got worse...
Disregarding his obvious lack of knowledge about the Jets, how does a team that supposedly maintains status quo and went to the AFC championship game last year finish in 3rd?
3rd year QB, Revis/Cro together from week 1. Dline doesnt have 4 players anymore. That is 3 things. i'm not sure how much you want to change a team thats been to the afc champ game 2 years in a row.
We were 6 points off from going to the Super Bowl. And ontop of that, although we lost Braylon, Sanchez numbers WILL IMPROVE. Which means our offense will score more which will make it easier on a defense that is jelling into its second year for guys like Cromartie that had to learn the system last year. And down the stretch our defense looked very good in the playoffs against elite offenses. I dont think we will be seeing Rookies like Colt McCoy last year go on a game tying drive with 2 minutes left again...
We return 10/11 starters from the defense (how about that for little turnover from one year to the next, thats huge) We also return 8/11 offensive starters (edwards/woody/richardson are the only 3 missing, although you could count LT as demoted, but I considered Greene the playoff starter anyways) Sanchez is progressing and is starting to get on the same page as the receivers. Around week 4-5 (barring injury), Sanchez, Plax, Tone, Mason and Keller are going to be on the same page and will start ass-raping opposing secondaries. Also our DL is younger, and much improved over the past few years. Areas we may have weakened ourselves: LB core, we are aging quickly, especially on the outside we didnt lose anyone, but we need to infuse some youth and fast to our LB corps, particularly at the pass rush spot. WR, until they produce on the field, its hard to argue this group is better than last years. Plax is older, injury prone and hasnt played in two years. Mason is 37, at some point the guy is going to lose a step, we can only hope thats at least a year from now. I think (as shown above) once the group clicks, its going to be scary fun to watch, but until they prove it on the field, its all just pre-counted chickens. OL: Hunter was terrible in the 3rd preseason game. As was Slauson, who has underperformed so far this preseason. These guys are the weak links of the line, they have to step up their play if we want to maintain our "best in NFL" status along the OL. Also it remains to be seen what Moore will be like after returning from the hip. Again I think we will be fine, but questions and there... ST: Our punter in the reg. season last year was truly awesome. In the playoffs, Weatherford was horrendous. Conley has never kicked in an NFL game, with Rex's style of play, a punter is extremely important. Hopefully he proves he has it. Folk, is what he is. Not great, and inconsistent to say the least...
What sucks is jerkoffs like this guy pat themselves on the back when they get one of these retarded predictions right, but if the Jets win the division he will conveniently forget all this crap he wrote pre-season. Very similar to all the stupid Dolphins fans last year touting Chad Henne as the next Joe Montana.
It was Mark Sanchez last year, it is this year. Players don't mature or get better. That never happens. Seriously, anyone who says what this punk said shows a complete lack of understanding of how football works. Just because you don't "upgrade" your personnel doesn't mean your personnel hasn't upgraded.
Williamson has been trying to "be right" about the Jets failing going on three years now. He has done this before each of the Rex years, and before each big game they play in. He doesn't like what he sees in the team, and he is inobjective about them at this point, simply trying to hold out until one of his negative predictions can finally be heralded as correct.
I was pissed when I read the first post until I opened the articles. They have to have someone say something outlandish to make the article more interesting so they just stick next to the random schmucks picture.
When the Jets go 19-0 and hoist the Lombardi trophy Make sure you bombard Matt Williamson's twitter and chats. I'll be sure to send him a Mark Sanchez jersey.
