You serious? The kid has looked good...in the preseason...against backups. If Sanchez went down, I'd feel sick.
http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/6553/greg-mcelroy Jets QB Greg McElroy reportedly suffered a dislocated right thumb in Thursday's preseason finale. A small piece of McElroy's thumb was broken off. The Jets won't have a recovery timetable until the X-ray results come in, but it's a major injury for a right-handed passer. The seventh-round developmental QB could be lost for the season. He's still better than Sanchez! (kidding)
They won't go sign a backup and here's my reasoning why I think that. They are paying brunnell and giving him a roster spot. If he was there to coach he wold be in a polo. Although no one would like to see him have to play, he will be the number 2 regardless of the Mcilroy situation. Hopefully we find out what happened to Greg soon as well. Would be interesting to see what they do with the 3 spot if he's hurt for a while like they are speculating
Willy didn't look half bad. With more reps, I think he could be a decent backup. Keep in mind, he probably didn't have many reps at all in practice this week.
????????? A piece of his thumb?????? I don't see why he can't play through this injury. Did the team find the piece of his thumb on the field so they could re-attach it.
Nooooooooo. I've seen enough of Clemens that I know I don't want to ever see any more. Just keep Willy.
Guys stop overreacting. It's the stupid way it was worded. He clearly has a broken thumb on top of a dislocation, that's what it meant. It's not like part of his thumb is missing. If that was the case he would've obviously noticed and left the game immediately (and I would assume the natural reaction would be to possibly look for it also on the field). Common sense..
OMG! Lost a small piece of his thumb? On his throwing hand? I pray that does not end his career, may God bless you McElroy. I liked what we had at the QB possitions, not anymore.
Do you think they could at least put his left thumb on his right hand? Is that possible? Hopefully the kid can throw again during his life, even if it's only a simple game of catch with his kids in the yard one day. I'm rooting for him to lead the Jets out of the tunnel in 2012 Week 1, would be truly inspirational.
