Of course... however if no one shines in his place on ST and if he doesn't have significant damage to the wrist he still has a small chance. Sucks for him though... I wonder, in case the injury is serious, if we'll keep him around on IR or just release him with a settlement. PS I think Turner has a very good chance of making the team out of talent alone... I'm arguing both him AND Payne might make the team.
He really doesn't have much of a chance regardless. I understand what you're trying to say about him not needing his wrist fully healed to play on ST, but that's not an argument you make for a WR, 5th or no. The team has to consider the possibility of him being pressed into action on the offensive side of the ball.
You're talking about placing this dude on the practice squad. Fringe players like Logan Payne get cut loose if they suffer an injury - minor or serious - it doesn't matter. He won't be able to help this team at all if he's out for a few weeks or a few months. He'll either be placed on the IR or he'll be cut. It's not debatable. Posters like you get attached to faggoty, meaningless players like Dan DePalma and Logan Payne. In the end, these players are easily replaceable. Again, tough break (no pun intended) for Payne. Clearly you don't understand because you're talking about a gunner competing with a block-eating specials player. It shouldn't matter who Westhoff wants - those two players are not related in any way. If you want to say Payne and Posey are competing, that's fine... Brashton Satele has more of a shot than Logan Payne and Garrett McIntyre. Pouha's injury isn't serious. If someone goes down, you call Tevaseu up from the PS. Ellis was brought in to be our NT of the future. If Pouha decides to walk in 2012, we already have our replacement on the roster. I highly doubt Pouha plays for another team though.
I really see it as keeping four ILBs. David Harris Bart Scott Josh Mauga Nick Bellore Brashton Satele replaces Lance Laury on specials.
Assuming he's out a month (let's call it the MBGreen wrist injury) he'd miss the Cowboys, Jaguars and Raiders... I think we could go without him. Brunell said a couple of days ago Payne really shined in camp a was a lock to make the 53 man roster... so it's not like the CS isn't high on him. Also in my scenario he'd be the 6th WR, not the 5th. That said I get what you're saying and this discussion is premature until the MRI results come back.
McIntyre and even Jones (#99) are better ST players than Satele... plus wouldn't Bellore replace Laury?
nice mambo i agree almost everywhere with your final 53 think we are going to have 10 OL with injured r. turner cook i think is going to be only as PS we have 4 safeties and 5 CB ... are enough defensive backs and most play in ST as well ... still last year i think we had 10 DB (because #44 was a good ST player) At NT only pouha and ellis McIntyre also
The line is going to rotate players constantly, so starting on the DLine isn't as critical as other positions. RP won't be starting but will get a lot of playing time.
If you use that argument, we only kept 3 ILBs on the roster last year. Bellore replaces Laury as an emergency 4th ILB and a ST player. I really haven't seen much from Satele on ST to think he earns a spot that way, but obviously I don't know what the CS is thinking.
1) I think you mean 9 OL including Turner... 2) Rex loves DB... I don't see us ever going into a season with less than 10 DBs. Don't underestimate Cook as a ST player... he's pretty damn good. 3) We'll see . If you don't want to keep 3 NT then way have MTV start ahead of Ellis vs the Giants #1? Glad to have another european on board!
I like Eddie Jones too, but he's more of an injury liability than Brashon "Tour de France" Satele. Kinda hoping a linebacker replaces John Conner on kickoff coverage. The kid's a beast, but he's much more important to our offense now that T-Rich is gone.
Last year Taylor didn't play much on ST (if at all)... this year I think both Westerman and whoever makes the team as the #4 OLB will play on ST. I agree however that Conner should and will see less time on ST. BTW is it me or is the CS giving more chances to Maybin than Westerman as a DPR? Looked that way vs the Giants. Maybe it's because they already know what they have in Westerman and they're trying to evaluate the new arrival...
Still can't get over Mark Brunell is still in the league. Remember when he played for the Jaguars? lol.
Mambo9 Maybe you should play the lottery. I think you are SPOT ON! If we roll with your roster, it would be a dream come true. This is what I want also, but we need to get a OL for deepth! This is a real big concern.
I remember beating him in the playoffs when he was on the Jaguars. Hard to believe that 13 years later, he's still around...and that he was two seasons further into the league at that point than Sanchez is now.
One could make the case Baker should make the team ahead of Turner & Payne... LB fight will be close. McIntyre, Maybin and Bellore are all making a case for themselves and so is Jones on ST. Satele did some good and some bad... imho all the other guys should make it ahead of him. Also Lankster vs Cook will be an interesting one... guy plays with a mean streak.
