Apparently, he will do something this season that will make some fans of the show start to dislike him. From pretty early on, it began to look like Hank would get it. Maybe Walt will indeed get Jesse to kill him. More likely, something will go haywire. I first saw him in "Malcolm X" and "Fresh". Interesting that I never came across the term "showrunner" as it relates to TV shows until this summer when I saw it used with "Breaking Bad" and "Walking Dead."
I've started to dislike him already...Walter White is one of the greatest characters ever whether I like him in the end or not. "It's all about me." I can definitely still see Hank getting killed.
Ah shit, he was the dealer!!! Who was he in Malcolm X? I'm drawing a blank on that one... Not that I'm the only poster here who passed 9th grade English, but I keep coming back to the "tragic flaw" element of heroes in tragedy. WW has repeated it like a mantra the entire show "I'm doing this for my family, I'm doing this for my family." That's total bullshit, of course. If it wasn't for Walt's tragic flaw, he'd be a healthy and happily married chemist with some wounded pride because he took Gretchen's loan. Walt has or will destroy every innocent person he's been close to, because of his pride. I think the show ends big. I get the Hank comments, but Hank, ultimately, is a disposable character. I think Walter Jr. or Skyler dies late next season as a result of Walt's "sacrifices for family."
I think everyone on the show and most of the people watching have forgotten about her though. Every month or so they'll throw in a token scene of Skylar neglecting the baby while she does something else but most of the time shes nowhere to be seen.
Tony Reali just threw out a Breaking Bad reference on Around the Horn. Apparently, Tim Cowlishaw is the one who knocks.
Fresh is one of my favorite underrated movies. Have you never seen Do The Right Thing? He was in that too.
THIS is the perfect segway for me. So I do NOT watch the show regularly, but my girlfriend does. For some odd reason, she thinks I'm particularly bright and clever, and has shown me a whopping 2 clips of an attempt and actual robbery of the chicken truck and she wants me to figure out what it is they are stealing/want to steal. Anyone want to help me get laid and answer that for me (cause I really have no clue and shrugged and said "money, how the fuck should I know")
...she watches the show and can't figure that out? She better give great head and make awesome sandwiches or else I feel sorry for you, man.
Yeah, Walt has gone from being that loveable genius on a mission to becoming just another criminal stuck in a spiral of decline making bonehead decisions because he is scared shitless. Except for that "I'm the one who knocks"-speech, he has been a pretty forgettable character this season. This can't be going on much longer though; I'm expecting more awesomeness to come from Walt and this show!
I have Do The Right Thing on VHS but never watched it. He was one of the assassins. If I remember correctly he played the guy who got tackled on the staircase after Malcolm X was shot.
--- Walt's pride has always been involved. All his life he's been told what to do, he's been stepped over and over, he's always been the minnow, the guy no one cares about (from his family to grey matters); watch season 1 again. He just snapped. *The bullies at the store mocking Walt Jr. *Ken Wins *Hank's "if anything happens I'll take care of your family" *The intervention *Getting Walt Jr drunk ... --- lol Is it fair to assume she didn't watched Lost?
^ For anyone that wants to watch it, there's an awesome clip from the next episode on IMDB. ...looks like another great scene involving Walter's transformation into Heisenberg.
I finally picked the first season up on DVD earlier today. Watched the pilot. Will watch more over the weekend.
