I haven't gotten obliterated, tried to kiss a reporter and embarrassed myself on National Television. That's something that Joe has a leg up on. I like Namath, but to not be able to poke fun at him because he won the only Jets Super Bowl and when it happens we are ungrateful. Sounds a tad elitist.
Ding ding ding. I like him too and appreciate what he did for the team/league 4 decades ago, but he just comes across as a fuckin' dumbass every time I hear him speak. He needs to quietly ride off towards the liquor store, and come back if/when the Jets win the Super Bowl.
Getting drunk and shitting in your closet is the best revenge. Well you are right, 17a is a total clown, however you arrived at that conclusion using faulty evidence.........Too bad you weren't working for the prosecution during the OJ case.
I love how so many people tear up Joe Willy, and yet these same people suck Chad Pennington's dick on this board. What do you have against winners? Soh's right tho, drunk JW is more fun.
I haven't read through this thread but I'm pretty sick of him. I respect what he did in bringing the Jets a Super Bowl but hearing his opinion on every little thing gets annoying. Also, you can't seriously think his opinion sounds intelligent half the time. I would rather hear Chad Pennington talk about the Jets because he is intelligent and knows much more about the current state of football than Joe Namath. The argument isn't about people not liking "winners", it's about not wanting to listen to somebody constantly giving unintelligent opinions which receive extensive media credit just because he won a super bowl
Do I like some of the things he has said? No. Has he done enough for my team that I am willing to put up with it? Yes. Everyone has the right to voice their opinions, including Joe. And come on, who hasn't gotten drunk and make a fool of themselves? And if you haven't, go out and do so. Life is too short. We all have relatives that are crazy and sometimes embarrassing. Joe is that for us real fans. No worries Joe, I still love ya.
I'll never get tired of that hero. Anyone who tapped that much cooze, won a Superbowl, was the first true Rock Star athlete, got smashed and tried to kiss a sideline reporter on national TV, and just overall rules in general can say whatever he wants.
I agree that some of the hate is coming from younger fans that have no clue what this man did for this team and for football in general. He didn't win a Superbowl but rather the greatest Superbowl ever played. Before that win, the JETS and the whole rest of the AFC was considered a fucking joke. At the time, he was Micheal Jordan and Tiger woods rolled into one. On the field and with the ladies. The JETS were supposed to get their ass whooped in that game. But I will admit, I do prefer Drunk Joe. lol
I love Joe Namath. He can talk all he wants as far as I'm concerned. He's a character and the face of our franchise. You go Joe!
I worshipped Joe as a teenager as he was all I wanted to be ...now his yearly commercial input and twitters about the Jets are tired and those of an old man who won't let it go. Great QB / Jets Icon but his time has gone
Namath was an awesome dude back in his day. It's sad to see him become a shriveled and attention starved old man.
Without Joe we'd be looking at a different NFL today. Superbowl may have never been super, The merger may never have merged. The AFL on the same documentary as the USFL and XFL... Cats and dogs living together, Mass histeria!!!!
