Writing for TV is an incredibly thankless job. The only guys who get any credit/$$$ are the show-runners. I assume you watch a lot of DVD commentaries. The good ones are really informative (the bad ones are ponderous). If I were younger and didn't have a family (and also had the knowledge I have now.....in my 20s, I had no ability to write), I'd love to pursue a career in writing. Good luck to you. DBJ - All kinds of shows. But he won for his work at the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid. He also has a Tony award. I'll post a picture of the Emmy when I get home, it's an amazing trophy.
I guess another good analogy for realizing how talented the writers of Breaking Bad are: If you played a sport as an amateur (high school -- college) you realize how much better the professionals are than you, they have natural physical gifts you can't practice to perfect. Aaron Paul showed his acting chops a long time ago in this series. I recommend that you guys re-watch some episodes if you're just now noticing it. Towards the end of season two, he stepped it up...but the scene at the hospital in "One Minute" made me really take notice. That along with the wooden box scene in "Kafkaesque" won him an Emmy in 2009. I've read a few articles about the show saying that Cranston and Paul work on their one-on-one scenes for hours and hours.
