Glauber is usually a dick but this was a pretty well written article with some positives about Sanchez's progression. Thought it was worth the post.

    1) It's just the pre-season... no game plan, new WRs etc etc

    2) That said I think Sanchez and Schotty just don't fit well together... i.e. Schotty's system doesn't take advantage of Sanchez' strengths and Sanchez hasn't enough experience to full y take advantage of Schotty's system.

Great read. I thought Sanchez was better than many people both on this board and the talking heads were saying. He hung in there and commited no turnovers, unlike the more experienced Eli.

Which player could Schotty's system take advantage of their strengths? No QB. Haha.

We need a OC that builds an offense around what Sanchez is good at it, not an OC that tried to force Pennington, Favre, Clemens and Sanchez into.

It's fairly obvious at this point that early in the game Sanchez needs easy quick reads to get going. I would bet money that Schotty will have him taking 7 step drops with 15-20 yard routes and a slow developing check down. Why are the WR's always bunched together?

If Schotty doesn't suck, why did we have to hire Tom Moore as a consultant? What other team has to hire a consultant to the offensive coordinator?

I'd still like to see him throw past the sticks on 3rd down.

My daughter turned 22 last Saturday, and while at her party I thought "Now here's a kid that's doing pretty well, mature in some areas, immature in others. I'd trust her to pick up my dry cleaning".

Then I thought "Here's Sanchez, just out of college, same age as my daughter, and I'm placing my heart and sole in his hands to succeed where so many others have failed".

I can't imagine putting my well being in the hands of my daughter's daily ritual, but here I'm banking on a kid the same age to deliver a much dreamed of Super Bowl.

It's hard to imagine just how young these kids are until you have your own kids the same age. I can't trust my own kids to take out the trash, yet I demand someone else's kid the same age throws 30 perfect spirals under the threat of physical mayhem.

    Just crazy I guess.

It's not always there, so you either throw it away, get sacked or throw it short and advance field position with the outside chance the guy runs for the first down.

Sanchez is great at escaping pressure and extending the play, the next step is to make a good decision when the play breaks down. I'd rather he dump off for a 6-yard gain on 3rd and 14 than force it into coverage and get it picked, or stand there too long like Ken O'Brien and get sacked.

i know were all dying to talk football but you cant determine much from preseason. obviously we all wouldve liked better stats for Mark last game but preseason is for working out the kinks. Id rather there be some miscommunication now than in the season. I think its great that he didnt make any big mistakes, aside from the fumble. But then again, maybe its good he fumbled on that play. For now on, he'll maybe concentrate a little more on that quick pump fake. I am not worried the least bit about sanchez. Its time to let go of the reigns and let him take us to where we all want to go.

basically his decision making comes down to this. if holmes or plax are one on one, audible and get them the ball on a read route. if coverage is containing both of them, look for keller or mason. throw to LT out of the backfield once in a while and we should have a lot of open targets.

    It's true, but he's 25, so it shouldn't be a problem

Just preseason guys. We're talkin' about practice, man. I am on a lot of NFL message boards and trust me, every single team's fans is unhappy with what they have seen on the field. They had no offseason training, you're not going to really see your team's capabilities until about week 4.

I'm not sure he'll have enough time to take 7 step drops and read through his progressions. The O'line has not looked very good in any phase.

I'm getting more concerned about the run game, there isn't much ado for scheming or going plain vanilla in pre-season to not show other teams your wrinkles in a run game, its just smash mouth football and they aren't opening up holes like they need to do. Even 3rd and short, 4th and short I didn't see the O'line getting any push at all, if anything they lost those battles and badly.

If we can't run the ball defenses will be teeing off on Sanchez. I hope there are a number of OL released today and in the next cut that they can pick up.

That's a league-wide issue. Brady was getting the shit knocked out of him in Detroit and it's funny how bad he looked when that happens. The year they went 16-0 nobody could get near him.
