Can someone answer a question? In Rex's book, is Mike Francesa mentioned at all? Mike seems obsessed (and has since Rex became coach) with making fun of the Jets and their front office every chance he gets. Mike's a grumpy jerk.

The Jets were run by business men, the Kensils and other suits. We really never had a typical Gm until Dick Steinberg in the 90's. Steinberg did a lousy job overall but his hiring was a step in the right direction. Think the current Bengal front office and you get the picture, lousy scouts, no football minds and Mr. Hess was to patient with coaches and front office types. We were really in bad shape as far as adminstration. I am not sure about the early 80's, someone new what they were doing, I think Walt had a lot do with that, he was old school and built a real good OL and DL. We just did not have a clutch QB or we would have absolutley won a Super Bowl, we were that good. Freaking Todd was so inconsistent and played like crap in the big games. Anyway, that's what I recall because 1981 was my first year as a STH, man I thought every year would like that. Little did I know the early 80's was the best teams we would have until Tuna and Vinnie.
