Some of these are pretty amazing; http://www.burlingtonfreepress.com/...20110828&Kategori=NEWS07&Lopenr=828001&Ref=PH
That is so sad. Not entirely sure why I give a crap about a covered bridge, but I've always thought they were cool.
Wasn't the first guy that died in NC working under his car, outside in a hurricane, when a tree fell on his car? Now THAT is Darwin material.
Across from you in Island Heights they got some serious water from the river was on top of thier little pier. I sat on that pier just last summer and fed the ducks with my son. Saw Ocean Gate got some flooding as well. The Asbury Park Press had some amazing pics from Belmar and some of those northern coastal cities like Bradley Beach and Seagirt. Also read they pulled a body from the inlet in Manasquan.
Day muthafucking two without muthafucking power. I woke this morning pissed off that I still wasn't part of civilization. Drove to Brunswick Maine in gorgeous weather. Came home to find no muthafucking power still. My neighbor says wednesday. Not sure how she knows. If you're going to take the time and the jaw strain to blow someone, you should be getting more than just an approximate time for power to be restored. On the up-side, I was able to catch the landscape dudes to take out all the downed limbs and clean up the yard, so I came home to a cleanliness..... and a bill tucked in my door. Worth every penny, though. I wouldn't have even smiled at the fucking yard until Saturday.
2 men from my hometown of Point Pleasant Beach were found in the Manasquan Inlet... apparently fell in the ocean watching the storm. They were both 25 and cousins. Some pretty amaizng pics taken by Shore residents... http://www.app.com/apps/pbcs.dll/se...alleryID=6c3d5324-cf52-4c04-967e-6ff30e1540f5
Got power back this afternoon, there were a few downed trees on houses and across streets around my block.
Zero sympathy for the assholes who die heading out into the storm when there is no reason to do so. Also, the one guy reported to have suffered a heart attack and dying while preparing for the storm, should not be reported as a storm-related casualty. He had a heart attack you sack of dicks!
I'm glad all you folks are in good health and still around. I got in and out of Charlotte with turbulence on approach and takeoff. Irene had already turned north towards Broadway and from our altitude, she looked pretty damn mean as we could see her off on the horizon. Hopefully, you folks won't see another one of these for a few decades..
This girl is a dirty-rotten. Slip-sliding in the gutters of Times Square. Any way we can get her to post here?
Now its the 3rd deadliest hurricane since 1980...41 deaths and counting... Andrew only killed 22, which was astonishing since our buildings weren't built for hurricane protections we have now...I guess people were well warned to get the fuck out.
45 hours and counting without power (I'm sitting in a Panera using the free wifi and power outlets). According to LIPA they're still "assessing the condition".
