He'd be a serviceable addition. Anyone have a good idea what would he cost, and if can he play multiple positions if needed?
I know it's more subtle than this, but in general if you can play center, you can play guard. Whether O'Hara WANTS to be the backup at guard, too, or at center for that matter, might well affect his interest or lack thereof in going with the Jets.
I don't think he's signed. He's a terrible starter, but he wouldn't be a bad backup in the slightest.
I'll take your word for it; I've never played football so many of the nuances of the game, especially at the line, are a little beyond me. You may well be right about his desire to be a back up though, I'd imagine that he is still good enough for a starting role somewhere.
Come on Tanny, we need a wide-body way more than we needed Aaron Maybin. If Vlad plays any more, our quarterbacks will have to go on the endangered species list.
You act like signing Maybin for 700k or whatever is going to stop tanny from looking for a body for the Oline with between 7-9 mill cap space remaining.
Guess I was quite slow, up for discussion in the FA thread Cowboys cut Andre Gurode, pro-bowl lineman, according to ESPN> Should we take a look at the big fella?
the Lions are building a team finally....if they can stay healthy its going to be an interesting year...
gurode would be a good fit although one would think someone would offer more of a role for him elsewhere
Gurode really doesn't fit what the Jets are looking for. Gurode still wants to start, and he'll command a decent contract for that right. I think someone like Josh Beekman would fit better. He's cheap, he's started in the league, and is more willing to accept a reserve role...
I think we like our team, no need to go chasing old lineman recovering from surgeries and limping around practice fields. Better off developing younger guys.
Beekman would be a nice depth player at guard. I'd like to see a taller, more athletic tackle/guard signed first though. ...someone to fill Robert Turner's role.
We need to resign a o-linemen for some depth especially with Turner gone. maybe Gurode who was just released, Or someone.
Gurode is an interior lineman that will probably end up starting for a team that desperately needs offensive line help. The Jets need a utility lineman that can play inside and outside. Turner was valuable because of his versatility, but his injury won't kill this team. It just hurts the depth for the time being. If a solid veteran is brought in, the problem will be solved until Turner comes back later in the year.
