I know a bunch of roads near my house are flooded. Facebook has been getting lit up with pics of the roads. Don't think it's gonna be much of a problem as they are all back roads.

Not everywhere. It was a fairly windy, rainy day, but not a big deal at all here. Didn't even lose power.
My town (in CT) literally got obliterated. You can't drive ANYWHERE with the hundreds of trees down, there's rivers running through roads, 100% of the town is without power. What a fucking mess. Glad NYC isn't too badly damaged but Southwestern Connecticut got hammered.
My buddy is from Danbury and he told me they got hit pretty hard in that area. I also heard a report that Bristol was flooded as well ... Most of the damage in Ocean County (NJ) from what I have seen and heard was in the Jackson/Allentown/New Egypt Area. Lots of downed trees and some flooding. I've also heard from friends that the Silverton area of Toms River was flooded but it was centered in the Green Island and Holiday (or as we called it Harlem) on the Bay areas. I know that parts of Rt 35 South near Seaside got hit hard and the areas around LBI as well. My mother said where she is at in Lakehurst just some downed branches and not much else. She said leaves everywhere but no serious or even moderate damage. Saw video of what I thought was Exchange Place in Jersey City and the water from the Hudson basically up to the fronts of buildings. I wonder if the Path Train had any flooding?
I can confirm that there's a lot of flooding in Bristol. You can still get around, but there's a lot of roads blocked off... Both my parents' houses in Matawan and Point Pleasant have also flooded.
I was in Hartford and I've seen thunderstorms more fearsome. my family down on the shore got hit with some wind damage, but overall this storm was way overhyped.
Yeah but the Jets should have played the game and not closed Manhattan it was all about the money...............
Again... Would you prefer underhyped and the big one hitting? The answer to this question is truly perplexing me.
I hope everyone is ok and sustained minimal damage if any. it's better to expect the worst and get less than to expect less and get the worst.
Hope the people who flooded have flood policies...because unless you lost your roof, the insurance company aint payin shit. Glad you're all alive. Sorry for your financial losses from the storm but at least you're here to rebuild.
Some no name tropical storm remnants knocked us out for a week in south MS back around 02. That pissed me the fuck off. Sewers flooded to the point that the covers were lifted off the man holes. Houses were spared though at least. I miss hurricanes. No offense to those who took damage, but I used to have fun as long as it was a 3 or less. Out here it hardly fucking rains..last night we had what they call virga.
My yard is fucked worked for 3 hours yesterday and barely made a dent. I have a lot of trees, and now one has to come down its propped up another. Irene did enough to me, Massapequa got hit pretty hard saw many big trees down and telephone poles too.
Exactly. Here on central LI, I got the exact storm my wife and I were hoping for. No trees fell, just a bunch of branches. Not much rain. We were out of power for about 8 hours....no cable/internet for about 24 hours. Pretty much best case scenario. Meanwhile, two houses on the next street over had trees fall on them. Most of our friends and relatives are still without electricity.
I must live pretty close to you. Nothing but branches on my property, although there are trees down in the neighborhood and there are power outages all around. We really lucked out, we didn't lose power for more than 30 seconds the whole storm. Everyone else I know was either out or is still out. Considering what happened last year during one of those freak summer thunderstorms, I lost 3 trees and everything in my backyard, we really lucked out this time.
Biggest problem for me was having to empty the pool vac a few extra times. No house damage, no flooding, basement stayed dry. Very lucky on this end. Family and friends have been told that they will be without power for at least a week. A few families I know had flooding to deal with in Long Beach and West Hempstead.
I had the easiest commute ever despite the dire warnings. Bus was at the corner, Train pulled in when I got to the station and when I have to switch, the R pulled in. Was at work early. Odd. Good luck to everyone with lingering problems.
