Gov. Cuomo just shut down all NYC subways tomorrow at noon. I don't know how many of you that effects, but there it is.

Mandatory evacuations in some areas of NYC. Yes, that does mean either you leave willingly, or they will arrest you.

Bloombergs on now giving the order.

I'm planning to go out in the hurricane with my leaf blower and blow in the opposite direction of the wind to cancel it out and save everyone. You are welcome America.

I still don't really understand where wind comes from, anyway. Can't see it, can't smell it, yet you can feel it, and hear it.

    I just don't get it.

I assume they only do that as a last resort. You have to have something serious to threaten some people with. Personally, if you're too stupid or stubborn to leave, that should be your problem. Just don't beg for somebody to come get you off the roof when your house is under 10 feet of water.

The storm seems to be weakening. Even though it's minor will that change the path of the strom?

Okay, well looking at weather.com's latest satellite map, it looks to my uninitiated eye that the entire storm is collapsing. Now I'm not at all trained for this stuff, and I'm nowhere near jaywayne's knowledge, but it looks to me like when this finally makes it to NY, it's just going to be some ridiculous rain, and some strongly gusty winds. Basically, a summer Nor'easter.

That'll make it a bit more dangerous than our autumn or spring ones, due to the fuller leaves on the trees, but beyond some nasty flooding and tree fallings, it doesn't look nearly as bad as the apocalypse the Weather Channel and local news has been hyping for the last few days.

Weather Underground also confirms that the eyewall collapsed this morning.

By this afternoon, all of the projected paths have narrowed down very tightly. All the variations are gone. Its either going where they say it is, or every damn one of the possible paths is worthless. I doubt that. But it is all just educated guessing, anyway. Its coming.
