No, I don't really want it to hit us of course- I just feel as though this is one of those storms that as it nears closer will end up veering one way or the other where we won't feel it as much as was originally anticipated.

Not all of you live in the city, and I only meant the ones asked to leave.

Its not supposed to rain here, but I am getting a cloud band coming this way. Its really spectacular; it looks like a quarter of the world must be on fire, like a huge wall of smoke from ground to the highest heavens. Unreal.

Non-perishables check, water check, flashlight/candles check, weed check. All I need is the beer and booze and I am going all Lt Dan on this cheap whore Irene.

Any of the live reports shedding some more light on where it's really projected to land? Looks as though it's not really being updated very much online.

By the way, what's amazing is how many of my neighbors and family members do not have batteries or flashlights on hand.

The track doesnt radically change every two hours.

It's going to pull in with its eye somewhere between the Jersey shore and Central LI.

Someone on another board posted that "Hurricane Irene is going to slam into New York like Lindsay Lohan slamming into the sidewalk outside a nightclub."
    We're fucked. (Zone 2 boy)

So far during my Southern California trip I'll have missed an earthquake and hurricane in NYC. Nice.

I thought about it, a camera phone wouldn't do it justice, and I would have spent my entire lunch figuring out how to post a phone pic to a message board. Maybe next time.

Seems the predicted path has moved East a bit. Long Island is back on target to get creamed.

Good job KOZ. Root a little harder for it next time.

If only that worked for the Jets, huh?

Anyway, so what are we looking at now? There are conflicting reports everywhere I look/hear. This is everything from spit in the wind to a freaking apocalypse depending who is talking.

Looks as though the weather sites aren't updating nearly as frequently as yesterday.

I've found that myfoxny.com provides pretty decent, real-time info.
