That's what I'm thinking about a lot of these cities along the coast. These last two weeks of Summer were huge where I grew up. Labor day weekend should have officially been changed along the Jersey Shore to Guido Day Weekend. I just have a bad feeling about this storm in Ocean County, if your familiar with the area there are spots between Point Pleasant and Seaside Heights that it seems like you can throw a baseball from the bay and hit the ocean. Pretty scary if you get a 15 foot storm surge. They are saying that tides will be higher because of a new moon.

I did the same, she is in Lakehurst which is pretty far inland so obviously strom surge is no worry but I'm thinking more in the lines of power lines going down or sewers backing up with so much rain. My cousin is literally a block from the Manasquan Inlet and then 2 blocks from the beach. Can't see him riding it out but we're talking a 700K home so who the hell knows?

Yesterday they were saying were out of the woods, today they are saying the storm will turn more west and hit between the NC/sc border and Wilmington. We are under Trop storm warning, and Little River SC where i am is under Hurricane warning. It depends on whether she is near North Myrtle or the south side, but definetly tell her to grab some needed things because it can always be used later.
With what the weather channel has done to people in the northeast and mid atlantic,it had better be armageddon or there ratings will be down next time a storm comes along.

I'm glad someone said it...the weatherchannel.com site acts as if WWIII is about to start. Every thing they mention ends with a fucking exclamation point. It's as if they are trying to scare people.

I was in the market for a generator anyway, and my brother in law just happened to have an extra one that he bought last year. $400 bucks just landed me a once-used 5500 watt unit. Happy to at know that at the very least, my main fridge and sump pump will keep going.

Did you see the new tweet thing they were doing along with it? Having people tweet so they could see which city was getting all riled up more about the storm.

Every 50 years a storm come roaring out of Antarctica, tearing up the Atlantic, letting us know just how small and insignificant we really are

I just don't understand why they are going crazy over the Northeast when they don't know what it will do there yet,but keeping quiet about the immediate threats like the Caralina coast.

Like I mentioned earlier, there's not much besides pine forest and wetlands for hundreds of square miles inland from the OBX. Not much you can say, that kind of country was made for taking on big storms. NYC, not so much.

Good luck everyone, Hurricanes may blow but they truly suck.

TYPE...I totally here you. Sadly, this is a mega week and weekend just because of what you and other hit on before...$$$$$. A huge storm hitting where all the $$$$ is. This is the weather channels Superbowl.

As far as the hype is concerned...we get the picture..but what can they do. When huge hurricanes came on land in NC...i followed..but most didnt.

And dont get me started about the tweet thing on the WC. If someone has whispered in their ear what a stupid idea that is every 15 minutes...probably one of the dumbest additions to a channel I have ever seen in my life.

I will say this...the word is out..it wasnt yesterday. There are no more batteries..generators...flashlights...in my area..so they did a great job getting the word out. I guess what can they do.
