He told Gruden if a team was smart they'd keep him as QB. With that attitude I don't think he's motivated to be a receiver
What do you want him to say? He's been a quarterback his entire life. He said during his workout today that he's willing to switch positions.
Well desperate times call for desperate measures. Brad Smith was skeptical at first about converting from a QB to another position...true story.
Too bad that's an extremely big IF... anyway Jets didn't even send a rappresentant to look at his work out so I don't think we're interested at all...
From an article on CBS: The Steelers also filmed the proceedings for teams that couldn’t make it but wanted to see what they had missed.
FWIW He said today he would play any position asked. Now if that's just good PR by Rosenhaus, who knows?
Physically he should be able to play receiver, but as we both know there's a lot more to the position than being tall and fast. Who knows if Pryor can learn to run routes, create separation, block downfield, or (most importantly) catch the football. I agree that he's worth about a 5th rounder just on potential alone, but I'd be surprised if he lasts that long. I think that a team like Oakland or Seattle will grab him in the 3rd or 4th round and try to make him a QB.
I would risk a 4th or 5th round pick on him in the S-draft bidding pool. He's has such a special combination of size, speed and athleticism that it would be hard to pass on him with a middle to late round pick where I think the risk/reward ratio is certainly justifiable. Of course, Al Davis or some other team may very well reach for him with an earlier round pick but I wouldn't mind at all if we were able to somehow land him in the middle to later rounds.
