I wouldn't bet that Maybin would be as effective as Taylor. I think the best way to look at this is the risk/reward potential. With Rex, there is always a possibility to put him in a good position for success. What he does with it is up to him.

Unlike VG, I don't think anyone questions love of playing the game. That's one step up already.

I don't think Maybin and Haynesworth belong in the same sentence at all. Haynesworth is a former All-Pro player. Maybin is a 2 year bust who was not good enough to see the field for the Buffalo Bills..

That being said, there is no downside to this move at all, and there is a small chance it could pay huge dividends. Let's face it.. we aren't exactly loaded at the edge rusher position, so if Rex can work with him and get anything out of him, it would be great. Will it work out? Probably not.. but you never know. Just like Gholston in Chicago.. will it work out? Probably not.. but for a minimum salary, what is the harm in giving it a shot? Bringing in a guy who as recently as two years ago was thought so highly of that he was the #11 pick in the draft is worth the no-risk roll of the dice.

A change of scenery can do wonders for a person.

  4. Jets could use a situational pass rusher. Maybin could use a fresh start. Makes sense to me, as long as expectations are kept in check.

Dude, this is TGG. Go read some of the Vlad threads...that will give you an idea how expectations are measured here.

Don't see the point in doing this... Could've used the cap space to re-sign Ihedigbo

  7. 'tis true. I suspect if he doesn't have two sacks by halftime against the Bengals, it will be bash Tanny time.

This signing will have 0 effect in whether we resign dig or not. Honestly at this point if he hasn't been signed he probably won't be regardless of what other moves we can do.

  10. I thought he only signed a one-year deal. 10 sacks? That might take him 12 years.

There should be no objections whatsoever to this move. I strongly doubt that there could be a reward to signing Aaron Maybin, but the important part is that there's absolutely no risk here. NO RISK WHATSOEVER.

"Let's trade for Tamba Hali" is not a prudent decision. We don't need to bolster our pass rush immediately. We don't need to bring in a 10-sack guy for this defense to be successful. We do need to explore cheap outside linebacker depth, and signing a high effort guy who played poorly on a trainwreck team is exactly how you go about doing that.

Rex thinks everyone can get 10 sacks.

    I don't know

    what Albert

    Haynesworth

    has to do with

    Aaron Maybin.

    Haynesworth

    already got

    his payday,

    what exactly

    is going to

    motivate him?

    A title? Dudes

    like him could

    not care less

    about that

    stuff.

If you would have read the previous post, you'd see why I mentioned Haynesworth.

Was about to say this. It's absolutely worth a shot, but there's very little similarity between this and the Haynesworth situation.

Sort of off off topic, but is there any rule against wearing a lot of explosives under your jersey and running into the patriots huddle?

I looked and couldn't find anything about it.

You're right. I underestimated how slow my POS computer at work is.
