I don't understand why ANYONE here would question this move. The knock on this kid is that he just can't play, despite his obvious athletic abilities. He is a good kid and tries, but seemingly just can't play on the NFL level....so far. But WHY NOT. You got about 90 players in camp now, what matters if you add another....like many have said. "it can't hurt".

The only caveat I'd add is something I read in the thread. It WOULD be a questionable move IF its true the Jets guaranteed him $2MM. If he's there for the vet minimum and has to make the team, then it was a no-brainer.

cimini is reporting he's up to 242 now. your right though, a very low risk signing. "can't wait" to see him in some pre season action. :jets:

He is reported to be back up to over 240 lbs and was down to that weight due to having pnemonia before training camp.

No, he's more competition for McIntyre than for Westerman. I don't think the team views Westerman as being in jeopardy. He's been utilized both inside and out in his career, and although the team has opted to move him full time to the outside, I really think they feel he can be effective against the run after Thomas leaves. He's a DPR this season, but I don't think it's a make or break situation in the preseason for him.

Agree completely. But wait, if NE would have signed him, it would have been evaluated as another brilliant move by Billy with no risk and nothing but potential rewards. Go figure.
If he nails Brady once for a sack we will have exceeded our expectations in my opinion.

Big fucking deal. My buddy's mom lost him in a department store when he was a kid for 2 hours and she still worked the pole like her rent depended on it that night like a fucking boss. No way should losing your kid for a while affect your job performance.

If he gets a sack, are you going to e-kill yourself again? We may have to intervene here with this signing if your e-life is in danger due to e-mental e-instability.

It looks like a low risk move. At 228 lbs, I'm not sure where he would fit in your defense.

the media didn't even know about his dead son. i just googled it and all the bills forums came up. he kept it to himself and didn't use it as an excuse...

no wonder he was inactive all of last year.

Then none of us can be held responsible if someone walks in to find your avatar hanging from your web browser with a stomach full of cheap pills from a spam email.

I never saw it reported. Had no idea until it was brought up here a few days ago.

EDIT: Looks like it was pre-delivery. He was going to have twins but the son died. So, although miscarriages are horrible, it wasn't as though it was an infant who passed away.

How much $$ you wanna bet he doesn't even record a half-sack in the regular season?

Well, he gets two games against the Bills O-line, so be careful on that.
