In fairness, he seems to be of a slightly higher standard than the average swamp-dwelling mongoloid that visits us from Patsworld.
The funniest and most ridiculous thread on that site is the "What AFC team poses the greatest challenge to the Patriots" thread. It's both hilarious and pathetic to see these homers try and brush us off like we haven't smacked them around 3 out of the last 5 times we have played them. One poster was actually trying to argue that we were lucky in the playoff win because our win only boiled down to a few mistakes by the patriots; hate to break it to em but that's football and every single patriots super bowl victory came down to 1 play, a field goal, but they don't mention that of course.
I give my respect to what the Jets have done over the past couple of years. Rex has changed the culture of the franchise to the point where they and the fans expect the team to compete for a title every year. But, they don't give out trophies for getting to conference title games and just because you beat a great organization like the Patriots or say the Steelers in a wild card or divisional playoff game doesn't mean you have accomplished your goal. Wins like you had over the Patriots last year are little steps on the road to the ultimate goal which is winning a Super Bowl. At least to me, SBs are all that matter. If you lose in the playoffs, it simply doesn't matter what you did up to then whether it's 18-0 or 14-2. You have to start over and try to do the things that got you to where you were and try to improve on what made you fail. In my mind, the Patriots and the Jets are in the same boat. Both looking up at the Steelers and are contenders along with a few others to get to the SB. Rex seems hell-bent on being better than the Patriots which is all well and good, but the goal is to be better than everyone else too. You can beat the Pats all the times you want, but if you don't get a ring it doesn't matter.
You talk about respect, and then you talk about "getting rings" and "winning the superbowl" like you are preaching down to us little Jets fans who don't know that the goal of a football season is to win the Superbowl. Like because your team has won superbowls last decade that you happened to witness, you have some sort of higher knowledge as to what this game is really all about. Get over yourself....you're the same thing as us, a football fan that has exactly the same amount of Superbowl rings as all of us here......ZERO.
http://www.patsfans.com/new-england-patriots/messageboard/27/710888-tailgaiting-music.html Hahahah read this first guys post "been a Pats fan for 5 years now" LMAO My username is JustinTuckRule on there.
Agreed, and I'm sure anyone here with a working cortex agrees with you. SBs are all that matters. However, the discussion in this thread is regarding how the Patriot fan base looks at the Jets as if they aren't a good team. The Jets beat NE 2/3 times last year and are 3-2 against NE under Rex Ryan, saying they aren't a good team or got "lucky" is ignorant and biased. (Not saying this is you)
Dungy w/o Manning made a title game and had TB on the brink of the SB. Bradshaw stunk early in his career and Pitt won anyway. None of those guys were complete failures w/o a certain QB. I agree w/ your last statement. The final score of the game was much closer than the actual game. NE got the better of us in the 1st qtr but we dominated the final 3. The bottom line is both us and the Pats have top teams and we are heated rivals, fans are fans no matter what team they root for. This year and the coming years should be really fun w/ this rivalry.
Boston has been having way too much success with all of their four teams lately. It's time to start raining on their parade.
Your post is 100% on the money...all that matters is a Super Bowl win. BTW, use the enter key once in a while!!!!
The Patriots got VERY LUCKY in the playoff game. What if David Harris returned that TD? What if the Patriots didnt recover both of Woodheads fumbles which were both near the red zone? what if the Patriots didnt recover Bradys fumble which was also near the red zone? what if Nick Folk didnt miss that kick? We could have been looking at a game where the Jets put up 40+ points EASILY. Maybe even over 50.... Alot of things went right for the Patriots, and whats sad is they STILL lost...
