It may be good fuel for Vlad. Perhaps, if he feels any guilt, it will motivate him. Not saying he needs motivation, but extra seemingly helps.
I was thinking... we'll probably go after a "big name" backup only if Turner is out for the season on IR. If he's only going to go on the PUP (can be activated after 6 games right?) we might look at cheaper options. Waters, O'Hara, Seubert and Davis are my best guesses atm... with a lot depending on health. Also, regardless of Turner, we'll have to bring in a T as Ducasse is a liability... Kaczur or Walker? Depends on health.
This sucks. Yeah he was a backup lineman, but he was the primary backup and after watching the rest of the guys that came behind him last night, this was a harmful injury to the team. We have to pick up at least a couple of serviceable lineman before the season starts....
get another utility backup O-lineman now! a key component of our success late in the season last year was having turner and hunter to fill in and be reliable when our guys went down... obviously it would be worse if a starter got hurt.. its rediculous for that even to be discussed... but in this game u never know when a guy is going to fall on the back of your leg... a.k.a. last night... depth is crucial
It's particularly bad because we learned in the same game that Ducasse isn't ready for primetime, so we went from thinking we have two ok backups to none in one game.
If brick or wayne hunter go down...we are pretty much fucked because Vlad would probably just end up throwing some Dlineman into Sanchez' knee and will have to get it amputated.
Worst case in this situation, concerning Turner and not his temporary replacement, is that it's a spiral fracture in a bad location and it will be a long healing and recovery and a questionable return to pro football, and maybe an assistant position learning from Bill Callahan. Best case is that it's a clean break that a competition junkie like Turner has opted to have pins inserted to provid e more support to the break and speed up the healing process. In that case his absence could last a couple of months, in my experienced but not educated medical opinion. If it's the former, Turner will be placed on injured reserve within 48 hours, at the latest. No news is good news on the subject of Pit Bull Turner. This is a very unfortunate setback regardless, as Turner has been a mostly unsung hero for Brian Schottenheimer and the relative success of the offense. One of the most versatile players on the roster.
Did you see the replay? His ankle was completely trapped under the guys body as his leg went in some disgustingly unnatural direction. I'm gonna have to go with he is really fucked this year broken.
Hahaha! Well done! TheJetsStream Manish Mehta I've been told that Rob Turner is projected to be out 8-10 weeks. #Jets o-line depth takes a real hit. #nyj Wouldn't be that bad... he could be put on the PUP if this is the case... would be able to come back around mid October/ early November...
