The lingering myth of an East Coast-centric world view by the sports media gets further dispelled Thursday as ESPN LA announces it will broadcast all of the New York Jets’ 2011 regular season on 710 AM in Los Angeles.

The arrangement allows the multitude of New York fans in greater Los Angeles to follow the Jets and Orange County native and ex-USC quarterback, Mark Sanchez.

“I’m happy that Jets fans in the L.A. area will now be a part of our 2011 season,” said Sanchez. “Their support has always been very important to me, and I look forward to sharing this exciting time with them.”

The 710 ESPN broadcasts will feature the play-by-play tandem of Bob Wischusen and Marty Lyons, who begin their 10th season together as the voices of the Jets.

“It’s an honor to be able to bring Mark Sanchez back to L.A. and back to his huge local fan base,” said Scott McCarthy, Vice President/General Manager ESPN LA.

“There is tremendous passion for the NFL here in L.A., and this partnership with an elite franchise will further energize the Southland’s sizable population of football fans, who continue to express excitement about the potential return of an NFL team to the region.”

“We are excited to bring the broadcasts from our ESPN New York 1050 flagship station to the greater Los Angeles area,” said Jets Executive Vice President of Business Operations, Matt Higgins.

“The team has a strong national following, and we look forward to enhancing the experience for Jets fans in Southern California and across the country.”

710 ESPN is the flagship station of USC football and also the home of NFL @ L.A. with Keyshawn Johnson, to air 8-9 a.m. on Sunday mornings in the NFL offseason and 7-9 a.m. during the season, beginning this weekend.

Not if you have Sunday Ticket.

Who regularly listens to football on the radio, though?

Wouldn't it be the shit if the Jets were the team to move to the new stadium in LA. Isn't that where Woody lives too?

Even though I'd be a season ticket holder if that happened, I would absolutely hate the idea of the team moving.

Moot point, though, since they're locked into the Meadowlands.

They better not be feeling the market for the "LA" Jets. No fing way they would ever do that, no way.

Actually....yeah, there is no way. Never mind.

Yeah, the soonest either team could opt to abandon the lease is 2025, and even that is incredibly unlikely.

Shit I can only get 710 at night ... maybe I'll just drive to Hesperia or Rancho Cucamonga and listen to the game on my car stereo. Dammit too bad Chic Fil A is closed on Sunday's or I'd even be able to grab a bite while I'm chilling in Rancho.
