You are always better when everybody is healthy, let's hope it stays that way.

i'd say its a wash.however the potenetial win it all this year is better then it was last year.
based mostly on sanchez's development and 10 starters returning on defense.
i am not worried about mason catching on quickly,he's a pro and been around long enough that it won't take him long.

    Expect.

Unless you are going to ACCEPT his big thing.

    I kid, i kid.

The Jets are a better team talent wise - on paper. Big Katt is a proven defender that we lost but if the reports on Mo are correct, he should be solid. Depth at DL depends on health. We had decent depth last year until Ropati went down.

WR performance is a drop off only due to consistency/timing with the QB. However, the talent level is higher.

Cro's return, Revis sans holdout, KDub +1 year, and Strickland's return is a plus.

I don't understand where all this optimism for the defensive line is coming from. Pouha and DeVito are the two best players. I'm not trying to knock them, I think they are both quality pieces, but the reality is that they are at best rotational guys who shouldn't play more than 50-60% of the snaps. Who else is gonna step up? Everyone behind them hasn't done ANYTHING in the NFL. Completely unproven players. You know what happens when players are in games for the first time? They go through growing pains. They look bad and are often over-matched.

Ellis and Wilkerson are rookies who played against weak competition in college. You really think day 1 they're gonna be able to hold their own consistently against NFL lineman? Those expectations are simply absurd, and lead to the idiotic threads that pop up after week 2 wondering if Wilkerson is a bust because he hasn't made an impact yet.

I also think this board is being a little generous in the comparing last year's WR core to this year's. Let's say things unfolded differently, and the Jets decided to resign Edwards and Smith, and hold onto Cotchery. Subsequently, the Miami Dolphins decided to sign Burress and Mason, as well as draft Kerley. If some Dolphin fan came in here and made a thread talking about how Miami suddenly had a better WR core, how would TGG react?

But obviously Tannenbaum can do no wrong so these players MUST be better.

We are better hands down imo.

We are also set up for the future alot better, think about how we were a year ago? we all thought it was all or nothing, that our team would be worse in the future cuz we were going all in. Then we entered this free agency, and now it seems we have built a team for the future thats also very good. Great combination if your trying to win a Super Bowl.

Miami would have a better WR corp if we didn't sign Holmes. Brandon Marshall, Burress and Mason is far better then Edwards, Smith and Cotchery. It wouldn't even be an argument.

As far as DL. We essentially had a rotational group last year and we will have one this year and yes I think Wilkerson or Ellis one of them will be able to be a solid rotational DL this year and I also think we pick up a vet at some point who will be every bit as good as Ellis would have likely been this year.

If additionally you told me that we would have Harris, Mangold, Brick, Revis, Sanchez, Cro and Holmes locked up I would have said no way Tanny can get all that done.

Remember a team almost never looks better than it does in training camp. You haven't had injuries, the rookies look like they can play, you can make yourself believe that the Strickland is durable now or that Cromartie decided to become a physical player at age 27, Plaxico and Mason's health is going to hold up and they'll both work into the system, etc.

The team will take shots, a guy like Jenkins will get hurt, a free agent or rookie will be a bust: the question then is how well do Rex and Tanny adjust when there is adversity.

    So far they've done well.

When injuries hit guys like Leonhard, they eventually adjusted (sans the Pats game. He got injured two days before gameday)

And this team has always been a better 2nd half team.

But yes, we've yet to see them when heavily injured. The thing is 90% of teams that are heavily injured don't do as well.

Yeah, Mason will catch on quick. He had a 35 yard completion AND a 50 yard TD in practice today.

It also seems like Rex's teams aren't as injured as other teams. I can't come up with any real reason for this other then Rex has a great feel for holding guys out of practice and the intensity of practice.

The Giants seem to have a ton of injuries that are not on sunday. And it happens every year.

This has probably been discussed but since I'm new....

Did Cotch have absolutely no trade value or something? I was shocked he was just released.
