Collie had one thing Kerley doesnt and that is Peyton, Manning can turn my grandmother into a 700 yrds receiving wideout
Yeah but Kerley also has a major advantage. He has the advantage of being able to call him Jerry-Kerl. Best nickname ever. Or just J-Kerl for short.
I love that Kerley is Westoff's special project.....wouldn't be surprised to see Westoff stick around for an extra year or two, based mainly on wanting to see Kerley succeed.
IJR, The bigger issue is Plax, if he gets hurt, is not in football shape etc this offense is fucked. Yes, anyone can get hurt but he is not even close to football shape, we are really putting alot of faith in Plax if we do not bring in another wideout.
That's why I've been in favor of Mason. My thinking at this point is that if he doesn't sign with us, we may wait until after the first preseason game to see where guys like Turner and Payne are if they can get some action with the 1s. The 1 year FA depth behind Mason sucks. Kerley's not a guy who cab step in at the #2 in Plax's absence. We all know that, which is why we hope for Mason. In the end, though, without him we'll struggle no matter who steps in if Plax is hurt.
exactly. Part of why I liked Plax was because we had a 3rd WR who could step right in. When we got rid of Cotchery, that left. I have no idea what Turner is. The staff is finding out right now since they didnt have an offseason.
TheJetsStream: #Jets rookie shows respect to D-Mase RT @Jkerley85 No question, if @deemason85 is going to become a jet he will in all respect wear 85 #nyj Classy move by the rook...
I just looked up his recruiting info and it looks like he was #1 in high school. A number in the teens would make sense.
Time will tell how much they put on Kerley's plate, but I think Kerley-Clowney comparisons are apples and oranges. Clowney was a track guy who despite his speed put up very ho-hum numbers in college. He wowed people (with Ratliff) against the Brown's scrub DB's in the 2nd half an an exhibition game, period. Kerley while not as fast is clearly a better all-around jock. Was recruited by Texas and Stanford (bright boy) to play baseball and in college was his conference's special teams player of the year 2 straight seasons...was also a finalist for the Paul Horning (all-around-threat) award. Clowney looked like he was for the most part a 'verticle' one trick pony route-wise (seems, flys/go's). What I like about Kerley as a potential slot weapon is his lateral quickness in and out of a break and how quickly he puts the ball away. I think the Jets got real solid 5th-round value with this kid. He's got 'skills'
Mods please lock this thread, Sean Ehllis just signed elswhere, we can not talk anything but that today.
RichCimini Rich Cimini Diving catch by Kerley on 18-yard out...against Revis. Impressive Every day half the tweets by these reporters are about Kerley. You have to believe he will have a role starting with week 1 and not just with special teams either.
