That's a ton of cash but I don't think those are "official" numbers yet. We'll see I guess. Either way the Patriots were well under the cap, and probably had a couple million worth of wiggle room.

I like the signing for a number of reasons, but the twist of irony is my favorite part... the #1 pick the Jets got for the Patriots signing Belichick was used on Ellis. (Probably mentioned already, but I'm not going through 25 pages of posts!)

Either way I'm finding the news out of training camp to be pretty interesting. Sounds like a shift in philosophy is in the works. The Patriots play a lot of different sets and always have, but it seems like the personnel moves are consistently pointing in a different direction now.

It appears the first reports are right as far as I can tell. 4mil for one year with some incentives that could make it 5mil.

The two year thing seems like it came from an "incarcerated bob" type up here hoping the Pats weren't really giving him that much this year.

The Pats were gonna sign Matt Roth, but his agent upped the price right in the middle of negotiations and the Pats told him to fuck off.

I don't really blame Ellis so much now. Pats gave him 4 to 5 million... wow. I'm sure the league will find a way to congratulate them on picking him up for Cullen Jenkins type money. What a joke.

No, what i'm saying is the Jets insulted him with that BS vets minimum offer. But I thought they should have offered him anywhere from 1.5 to 2 mill,, not more then that.

No doubt... Other then a couple of people who just want to insult me cause they have nothing to add,,, i'm really not saying anything radical here. He isn't worth that type of contract and the Jets shouldn't have offered him anything in that ballpark.

One year.... 2 mill.... That's all.

what does it matter if the result was the same?

We offer $2 million, and they offer (up to) $5 million. He walks either way. Highly unlikely he's leaving 3 million on the table because he likes Rex.

Shit, Rex/Tanny problem told him he'd be a moron NOT to take it!

What exactly would offering him 2 million done to change the situation? He would still be on his way to new England and you would still be whining about the FO.

I think he signs with the Jets before he even visitis NE if they offered him that. If the Jets offered him 2 mill, I wouldn't have said a word, that would have been a good job by the Front Office, a reasonable fair offer.

Just stop responding to #28Martin. Let him shout into the wind like an idiotic lunatic. He's an obvious troll, and nobody's going to change that.

I know what we are reading but does anything think there is something off with these reports? That sounds like alot of money for him. Seems like a severe overpayment.

Is the media going to apologize for calling Mr. T a 'cut-throat' GM?
