I just got de ja vu. This reminds me a lot of the FOs decision to cut Faneca. A lot of people didn't like the move at first but once we saw his play decline in Arizona (now once we found out the contract numbers for Ellis), we realized that Tanny got the last laugh.

If he had to go to NE, at least he got as much money from them as he could.

2M is what I was guessing. Like I said before, I thought people were overreacting when they thought he was getting $1.5 - $2 million. Not the part about being upset. That's valid now just as then. The part about wanting him to die and how he's no longer a Jet? I hope those people feel awfully stupid right now.

Gawd! There are baby Don's popping up all over the place. Enough with the foolishness already. It's the same shit we read when they signed Murrell and Woodhead.

No, Shaun Ellis declined the offer and asked for lower salary. Of course its what he'll be getting. U think Shaun would even want to negotiate that?

Good Lord, so Ellis could end up earning $5 million this year. That is crazy. That would be a million and a half more than he earned last year.

Not bad at all for him, stupid amount of money for the Pats though.

In his defense Shaun Ellis would have much more knowledge of our defense then either of the two above. (Woodhead for offense)

    wow. 4-5mil?
i totally thought he was worth 1.5-2mil, and was a little upset we didn't offer him that.

But 4-5mil is just too much.
Still sucks that its the Patriots, as i'm now forced to root against him big time.

I have nothing official... but I'll post if I get something in writing.

I'm hearing up here that Ellis is $4mil for 2 years including a $1mil signing bonus. This would break down to $1 mil guaranteed, another $1 mil guaranteed if he's on the roster opening day, and $2 mil next year if he's on the opening day roster.

    Why would he suck there?
He fits in perfectly with a number of their D packages, and adds some experience to a young D. He'll play a role, just like everyone on the Pats.
It also keeps him off the opposing sideline 2-3 times a year.

I totally get why they signed him. I just don't understand the 4-5mil, unless they had cap to burn for the floor.

I think 9 out of 10 people on this site would have made the same move as Ellis for that kind of money.
