Pats sign Andre Carter according to Schefter and Andre Carter's twitter.

He was unproductive in Washington's 3-4, but if its true that Belicheat is slowly moving towards a 4-3, he could be a nice pickup.

The Patriots and the Jets are neck and neck in the fossil signing derby...........They have the Jets by a nose.

For what it's worth, Carter had 11 sacks in 2009, his last season playing in the traditional 4-3 defense.

The Pats are said to be bringing in safety Dashon Goldson this week

Here is a breakdown of defensive linemen in Pats training camp based on a 4-3 defense. They're gonna have to wittle this down quite a bit.

    Defensive tackle
    Ron Brace (Active/PUP)
    Landon Cohen
    Brandon Deaderick (Active/PUP)
    Albert Haynesworth*
    Kyle Love
    Myron Pryor
    Darryl Richard
    Kade Weston
    Vince Wilfork*
    Steve Williams
    Mike Wright

    Defensive end
    Mark Anderson
    Andre Carter
    Markell Carter
    Jermaine Cunningham*
    Shaun Ellis
    Aaron Lavarias
    Eric Moore*
    Clay Nurse

    From Patsfans:

I believe two of his seasons with fewer than 6 were in 34 defenses, everything else is in the 43, which are pretty decent stats. His last year in the 43 he had 11 sacks, then Shanahan went and switched to the 34 which was a colossal failure. I assume he would line up next to Haynesworth again which is where he got his 11 sacks from I believe.
