Seriously, anybody who complained about the FOX game yesterday having a pro-Boston bias needs to watch ESPN tonight. You wouldn't even know that the Yankees were playing if Hershiser didn't need to criticize Freddy every few pitches.
Hershiser says he used to pitch out "to show I had it in my arsenal." Yeah, pitching out is very difficult. Few pitchers are able to do it.
Every time a hitter fouls off a 3-2 pitch the morons in the Sunday Night Baseball booth make a huge deal out of it and keep telling us how smart Bobby Valentine is. Valentine claimed hitters foul off a 3-2 pitch about 80% of the time. He referred to one of his knucklehead Connecticut buddies who bets on it, supposedly. What he doesn't know is that this data is actually tracked. It's actually under 60%. But since they only bring it up when it happens, I guess it's 100% in their minds.
That's two balls tatooed for outs with a runner in scoring position and 2 outs. Hopefully BABIP catches up with Beckett later tonight.
Nunez, of all players, ties it with a pop fly over the Monster. Martin's decision to go for two was pretty stupid. As soon as I saw him making for second, I was sure the throw would beat him there.
 Nunez hits a home run, and all Bobby V can talk about is how it shouldn't have gone out of the park. I didn't hear anyone complaining about Fenway's dimensions when Swisher crushed a flyout into the triangle last inning. This honestly might be the most biased national broadcast I've ever heard. For chirssakes, last inning they interviewed the Yankees hitting coach--about Beckett!
Dunno why they're getting excited about Cano barehanded a slow hopper when there clearly wasn't going to be a play on Pedroia at first. More drooling over Pedroia now. All-Pedroia, all the time tonight. What the heck? That was Martin. ...and Pedroia gets thrown out stealing. Silence.
I am in absolute shock that ESPN was capable of finding a worse announcing team than Miller/Morgan. Absolute SHOCK. And just after they finish washing Pedroia's sack again, he's thrown out by a mile.
Correct. Martin. Don't know why I said Swish. It must be the beers! I really should not type and drink.
Jesus fucking Christ, how are they not hitting this faggot? His stuff is total shit, they should have 25 runs by now.
Tonight in Pedroia's first at bat they droned on for 5 minutes about how he's the only person in baseball who gets to the stadium before the hot dog vendors. In his second at bat they referred to him as a "scrappy dirt dog" without any sense of irony. In his 3rd at bat they told us that "if you don't love watching Dustin Pedroia then you don't love baseball," then praised him for "wearing his heart on his sleeve" for being frustrated after making an awful decision trying to steal with Gonzalez at the plate. I don't like pulling the race card, but I swear to God you'd never hear anyone talk about Pedroia like this if he was Dominican. The thing that pisses me off about it the most is that Pedroia's an unbelievable player, but you never hear ESPN talk about his stats--just about how he's a gritty, scrappy, baseball version of Danny Woodhead.
Thus is the magic of Freddy Garcia. He has nothing overpowering nor a pitch that could be defined as "nasty," but he gets outs. He could be pitching a shutout if it weren't for some borderline calls and bloop hits.
I guess it was an exaggeration, but I found it particularly amusing when they claimed that Pedroia is not just the first player at the park, but he's the first person at the ballpark. They should make these people listen to the things they say.
I figured I'd try Sterling and Waldman for a little bit given the circumstances, and the first thing I heard was Suzyn react in total disgust to the thought of Montero being called up to replace Posada.
