RT @AdamSchefter Raiders reached agreement with former Giants tight end Kevin Boss on a four-year, $16 million. #nfl

Ouch. Giants are getting fucked up this year.

Not really true, Oakland throws to the TE a decent amount, and they could be forced to rely on him. That said, Boss isn't that great, so that might not be a good thing.

That's a big contract for him.

I agree, Boss isn't that good. Oddly looking at career stats Boss is lacking in rec and yards but has a big edge in TD's, compared to Miller. The big difference is that at least Boss had the same qb where as Miller had Jamarcus and veritable revolving door at QB. I would rather have Miller than Boss.........

Giants vs. Jets got more interesting now. The only player I feared was Boss, since we do not do well against TE's.

    Revis on Hakeem.
Cro on Manningham, and maybe some safety help...since Manningham is a fast mother f'er.
Is Steve Smith going to be alive by then?
    A Blocking TE? lol.

Bradshaw catching the ball out of the backfield actually would make me nervous, so uhh can't wait for this game.

I thought the Raiders were still like $12 mil over the cap?

There is something else going on here besides money. Why the Raiders?

when someone signs with the raiders, there is nothing else going on besides money.

boss is not worth 4 mil/year.

If he runs a 4.0 40, he is worth 4 mill to the raiders

I think this is a solid pickup. I think the Giants really underutilized his skills in the passing game. As for Boss, now he doesn't have to go up over the middle and catch those Eli Manning wounded ducks. I feel like every time this guy caught a ball it was with two DB's bearing down on him while he was at full extension over the middle.

Some of you think we have problems. The Giants probably just lost their first round pick.

And they now lose their most experienced TE, Ben Patrick...

Ben Patrick is stepping away from the NFL for an undetermined amount of time.

Patrick, a Jenkins High School graduate who signed a one-year contract with the New York Giants on Monday, told the Savannah Morning News on Saturday night that he needs to take care of “some personal issues and family issues.”

“I decided (Friday) night that I needed to step away to handle some personal issues and some family issues,” Patrick, 26, said from his home in Arizona. “I’ve got some issues that I need to work through and, obviously, that much of a distraction wouldn’t allow me to perform and prepare in football like I need to. I decided to step away for awhile to handle these personal and family issues.

“There are some things that I have to handle and need to handle, and I need to step away from the game. I appreciate everybody’s support but also ask for a little privacy until these matters are resolved.”

Oh damn. Stevie will need to be pulling out the 60 yard runs for the Giants to be successful.

Not to mention, Ben Patrick, the probable blocking TE replacement for Boss, abruptly retired. Now, it's the Travis Beckum and Bear Pascoe show.

lol I don't think I've ever seen a truer statement here.

At least now the Raiders have an NFL starter at a skill position besides McFadden. Lot of good that's going to do them with Jason Campbell as the QB.

Jacoby Ford is better at his position than Boss is at his. And Boss isn't as good as Zach Miller. Boss isn't bad, but he's a clear downgrade from what they had.

Giants should trade for John Carlson.
