This I agree with... if you play 12 seasons for the Jets and then you sign a 1yr deal to be a backup for the Patriots then fuck you.

However I still think in the end he'll come back "home"...

It was awkward enough to see Chris Baker in a NE uniform let alone a 12 year vet in Shawn Ellis. I simply can't believe he would do it, I always thought he'd be a Jet

Ellis might be heading to NE

Shaun Ellis | DE 2010 Team: New York Exp: 11 years
Analysis: The Patriots worked out Ellis on Thursday, a league source told ESPNBoston.com.

Ellis has spent each of his 11 NFL seasons with the Jets, with whom he recorded 72.5 career sacks. He was drafted in 2000 with a pick that the Jets received from the Patriots as compensation for hiring coach Bill Belichick.

    Sorry if posted already

Just can't/don't want to think about this

If he truly wants to wants to be a Jet the money won't matter. Screw the Patriots. If he takes there money then he obviously doesn't care about loyalty. :pats_suck:

Sorry, I meant that whoever is guarding Holmes is getting burnt. That's what I was referring to with the "Dallas' secondary blows" part.

While I agree that the money shouldn't matter at this point, if it is true that the Jets are around 8-9mill under the cap, then I see no reason why we can't offer Ellis somewhere in the range of $1.25 mill. I think its important to take care of your own, and the Jets dont have the best history when it comes to this. Granted they have kept much of their new core together, many previous vets who have played well for this team have been dismissed. Ellis is a true Jet, a leader, and for that Pats game alone deserves to be back at a decent rate.

Even working out for the Pats is fucking outlandish. He signs there, he's dead to me.

i cant believe he even worked out with the patriots... shows something about his character right there... if he signs with them that will be miserable... i expected more from an 11 year Jet

Fully agree with all the replies above. Jets seem to be opened for he coming back. If he is talking with NE either to make the Jets paying more or really to sign with the Patriots, it's a shame.

There's no loyalty in sports anymore with free agency. Players follow the money.

funny thing is jets fans here talking about how much he would impact in a rotational role for us with two young rookies on the DL.

talk about being an 11 year Jet and the loyalty he owes the fanbase, yet should only play for the vet minimum.

in all reality if the difference is a cple hundered k then i would be pissed.

but if we stand pat on the vet minimum and lose him, that would make us look bad, not Shaun Ellis, who would essentially be getting more money for a better shot at a SB ring.

If Ellis or Cotchery sign with NE they will attempt to pick their brains for the rest of camp and then cut them anyway. Can't see why they don't understand that. They need neither of them.
