I hate letting JCo go. I love the guy. But if Mason gets the vet minimum, its a great lateral move, and if Coach doesn't bounce back, chances are Mason is the better player.

The free agency route is also pricey. Tanny dropped serious cash on our #1. To keep our team core intact, he can't overspend on a #2.

Either tight or really ugly. Tanny may have pushed things off on 2013, but 2012 is still going to be pretty strapped.

Damn. Well, I remember in the beginning of last year how we were worried that we couldn't keep all of Mangold, Ferguson, Harris, Revis, Holmes, and Cromartie. So the job was done. And when the hell is Calvin Pace's contract end? It's like the never ending contract.

    I agree.

The best guys available in 2012 FA are going to demand some serious coin.

We won't be capable of bringing in a high priced veteran to play along side Holmes. The draft is our best bet - some future stars will be available.

Oklahoma's Ryan Broyles is my top guy for us. He's not big, but he's lethal after the catch. Holmes, Broyles, and Kerley would be very dangerous.

Peyton Manning made having two smaller receivers work with Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne.

There's guys like Mike Floyd and Jeff Fuller that have serious size, but Broyles just stands out to me.

Alshon Jeffery and Justin Blackmon are top ten prospects, so I'm not going to think about them at the moment. They'll only be available through a trade up.

^ And the value chart may actually become MORE pricey at the top end now that the cap is in place.

Pace could get cut in 2013. On the other hand, if he really does finally step up this season and next, and if the cap explodes in 2013, he may see the end of his contract.

Like I said in another thread, it's remarkable how much of the roster we have locked up and how much continuity we'll be able to provide. Again, if the cap jumps in 2013, our only risks would be Leonhard, Pouha, and Lowery in 2012.

Like Scott, Calvin Pace is guaranteed all his money in 2012 (they both took a $1 million pay cut this year in exchange).

The good news is that pretty much every elite or near elite player on the team -Sanchez/Revis/Scott/Pace/Mangold/Brick/Cromartie/Holmes/Pace - is locked up through at least 2012. The bad news is that we won't really be able to cut any of them before 2012 is over and it will be very hard to sign any big ticket free agents.

Dilfer told me that Cotchery "is one of my top 10 favorite receivers in football."

Dilfer explained that Cotchery "thinks like a quarterback" in that he possess impeccable timing while running his routes, knowing how to get open and how long he has before the quarterback is feeling pressure.

"He understands how to play between the numbers," Dilfer said.

Naaa.... they already have enough WRs. Dolphins could be an option though, and so could the Bills (why go there though?).

Many teams would benefit from having him on the field and could offer more playing time than NE has to offer.

Now that J. Cotchery is a former Jet, watch forPhilip Rivers to push for the Chargers to sign him. They're lifelong friends
