Does anyone besides the Jets FO really know how much we have left under the cap? I've heard all kinds of numbers.
A) Don, you don't have to foggiest how much the Jets actually have to spend. B) As has been discussed about 100 times in the Cotch thread, Cotchery's real cap conundrum occurs next season, and is a hindrance in signing current contracts that extend longer than 1 season.
I still never understand this freakin cap. You have teams like the Eagles, the Redskins in the past who seem to sign everyone and then you have teams like the Giants who say they can't do anything cause of the cap.
when he re-did his contract to help out their cap situation they put a clause in that he cant be franchised
I have no idea how this whole thing turns out, but I'm hopeful that Plax still has it. If Mason and Plax both perform like they did in previous years, then this will be one sick receiving corp.
He's not a real burner to me.... He's more of a slant guy. I'm more talking about a pure deep threat. But thank you for your kind words and please continue the wonderful contributions.
You wonder why people get pissed at you with your constant bullshit. You are never happy. To say Santonio is not a deep threat is just silly. He has the speed and ability to burn anyone deep. No matter what the Jets do, you will find a problem with it.
Out of 32 NFL teams, how many has that real burner? Raiders? P.S. If nobody pointed this out to you yet: Yes, you are a fucking moron.
First off, who are you to judge. That being said, whose not happy? I wish they added a little more speed at WR, what's wrong with that? Mason isn't a real speed guy, Burress isn't a real speed guy, Cotchery if they ever kept him, isn't real fast. They lack a little speed at WR. I'm curious. Is this a message board? Are fans supposed to share their opinions? Or is it just about saying things that the 5 or 6 people who feel like they own the board agree with?
I simply feel that you are wrong. Not every receiver you have has to be a speed demon. Burress can be a deep threat, the difference being that while not having a burner's speed, he simply out jumps the defender for the long ball. Holmes has plenty of deep speed and has proved so. Mason is a possession receiver much like Cotch, and that is a necessary ingredient to the offense. Just ask the Raiders what speed does for you. Not much. All of their WRs are fast, but it does not matter. You get mad when people disagree, but you do the same by throwing your little condescending remarks in. No wonder you get flamed. No matter who the Jets sign, for you, it is not enough. Shit, Holmes. Burress, Mason, Keller, plus the RBs out of the backfield, most teams would kill for a set of recievers like that.
And go ahead and play up on Holmes and Burress, and see what happens. Bring the safeties up tight, stack the box. No deep threats on this team.
We're not trying to save 4 million next season so we can drop 10 million on ANOTHER top receiver. We're doing it so we can sign guys like Pouha and Leonhard. We'll almost certainly draft our future #2.
