Panthers or NYG Steve Smith? Because none of them are available. Well, NYG Smith is, but he won't be playing until October probably.
Maybe its the Fighting Irish in me but boy would I love to get Michael Floyd in late round 1 next year as a probably/possibly Burress replacement since it seems like we may need some youth injected at WR next season. Fine with the signing. Would prefer to use Cotchery but they must feel his back and the injuries he has taken on may have effected his overall play.
I do love Cotchery, he is a true Jet, always. Mason on the other hand will be an awesome signing, Can't Wait.
would be a decent signing the guy hasnt missed a game in 6 seasons so i guess you could say he is reliable, but i would think we would still hold on to cotch to be safe after all he is 37.
Why the fuck would you want to replace Cotchery with Derrick fucking Mason? Tannenbaum is about to jump the shark with this move.
I'm not sure about that, look at the list of UFA receivers next year. Perhaps that's why we're looking to go with older second and third guys on one-year deals instead of hanging on to Cotch or re-signing Braylon long-term. I don't mind having one old guy in the top three, but two's just asking for trouble, especially with our perennial lack of depth at WR.
Mason bring leadership, knowlege and character. Any year of the past decade his stats would have been the leader on this team. Good to have him and the speed he still has, this guy is a true freak of nature.
I almost posted something about Mason in the Cotchery thread yesterday. He' not an upgrade, more of a band-aid for an unfortunate cap casualty I guess. Has anyone discussed the possibility that we may be trading Cotch in order to try to bring back Ellis for another year or 2?
The Jets still have lots of money..probably around 8 million to spend. This isn't a money move, it's to setup something else.
Mason is a very smart, sure-handed, reliable safety valve for Sanchez. I like the move if Cotch isn't retained. The only thing I still think we never addressed is that true stretch the field WR that teams have to respect. None of our WRs are the go-route type.
