Is anyone else worried that the jets seem to be content with Mark Brunell again as the backup QB? I really thought they might pursue someone a little younger. I'm reminded of 1999 when we had lost in the AFC Champ game the year before, and then Vinny went down for the year on opening day. We survived last year without having to play Brunell, and we're taking a big chance (AGAIN) with him as #2 this year. If Sanchez goes down, we're screwed.
I'm more worried about out backup HC?!? Threads like this have jinx written all over it. Please delete. It's amazing, people will complain about everything and anything.
I share your concern as I remember the mistakes of the past all too well. If memory serves me I think we went into that season as SB favorites?
Yes! We should have signed Vince Young. He would have been such a better mentor for Sanchez. I think teebow may be on the block we should look into that also!!
OWNED. I don't think Mark Brunell or Greg McElroy are capable of playing winning football at this point in their respective careers. Am I worried about it? Fuck no. I'm actually quite pleased with the quarterback situation this year. You've got the star, the teacher and the future long-term back-up. Are we fucked if our quarterback goes down? Sure; so are about 25 other teams in this league.
It's true that we're probably screwed if Sanchez goes down for any extended period of time. However, that's the case with every contending team in the NFL, and there's no one out there who would be significantly better than Brunell that we could sign and not have this problem.
