Release Cotch and sign Braylon to a 1 year deal. Would be an upgrade to the offense and really enhance Sanchez' red zone options.
How fucking stupid do you have to be to twitter about fighting while you are trying to sign a free agent contract? I was listening to the radio this morning, and they were laughing at how his first thought during a fight was to get on Twitter. Not to actually fight, or better yet, get the fuck out of there. No, he decides to get on Twitter. And don't give me this shit about how someone stole his phone. It was him, that's horseshit. Who fights in the kitchen of a restaurant? I know it may not have been him actually fighting, but who hangs out with these people? I hope he doesn't pick a fight with Gordon Ramsay. Its such a waste of talent, that's the sad thing. I'd love to have the on-the-field Braylon, but not the one that drives drunk and gets into fights. "This steak is not well-done, its medium rare!! That's it, get in the kitchen mutherfucker, its goin' down!!! Somebody get me a butter knife!"
With the recent talk from Sanchez about being intimidated and thinking he had to keep everyone happy the past 2 years, I'm not so sure bringing Edwards back is the best idea. If he's on a 1 year deal, he's gonna be all about getting his stats up so he can sign a big deal after the season.. he really could cause some problems. In theory it's great having all these talented receivers, but sometimes less is more. We are probably better off with an unselfish player like Cotchery who doesn't care about his role, even though Edwards is better.
JennyVrentas Jenny Vrentas Rex: "If Braylon wants to come back for what we can pay him, come on back." #nyj There Jets just laid down the gauntlet..his move.
i told Iggy on Sat hed prolly end up a Cardinal. better than him going to NE for even less money just to spite us. lol
Edwards wants a boatload, but his off-field situation is hurting his market value. I don't blame Tanny for not throwing guaranteed money at him....that's stupid business. If Edwards comes back for an incentive-laden contract, then the Jets will welcome him back. It's that simple.
It's not that simple... Guy is asking for a major long term deal from a team he's excelled for,, and you'll find out the Jets are offering him 1 year at 4 million dollars. He ain't accepting that, nor should he.
i dont think its that simple i think the jets are staring at a potential cap hell in 2012/13 and after holmes/cro tanny wants to make his job that less harder at this point. but all these rumors about tanny having a trade boner could be true. especially if its someone unexpected coming off the books for a younger cheaper option. ARI needs him far more than we do, with a new qb and fitzgerald about to ask for a trade if things dont pick up. Breaston
I don't see him coming back for this offer. Too much pride/ego. If a decent team comes at him with a better offer, he's gone.
I feel like he was becoming the superstar receiver everyone expected him to be out of college with the Jets. Give the guy a chance.
Yes, from a front office/business standpoint, it's real simple. I just told you that Braylon's off-field issues have intensified and hurt his market value. What would you do? throw 20 million guaranteed at a player who might face a significant suspension from the league?? This isn't Madden 11, this is real.
They gave Holmes the big contract....Edwards is not going to be shown the same love. That's the direction Tanny & Co. went with. Everybody needs to start accepting that reality.
So fucking true. We won't sign Braylon unless it's VERY friendly to next year. I think he's a Cardinal by tomorrow. They've expressed the most interest in the past several days, Rhodes and Feely have been pushing for him, and they have the worst WR depth in the league.
Braylon is seriously fucking retarded. How much more money is he going to throw away by being a moron? Couldn't he just stay home during free agency? If he had gotten caught up in this it would have cost him millions. For anyone who didn't read the link: Report: Braylon Edwards entourage involved in fight at Michigan bar By Matt Brooks Braylon Edwards may be the top free agent wide receiver still on the market, but with the way things are going, the disgruntled former Jet is not helping his chances of landing a big contract with a new team. Braylon Edwards (left) is not managing his free time well. (Tony Dejak - AP) Last week Edwards avoided jail time for his drunk driving arrest in New York City in September, and in June he crashed his 2011 Audi on Detroit’s Belle Isle at 3:40 a.m. Now Edwards is alleged to have been on hand at South Bar in Birmingham, Mich., when two members of his entourage got in a scuffle with employees. According to a report on myFOXdetroit.com, The two individuals were arrested and one club staffer was reportedly cut with a kitchen knife, requiring 14 stitches. Birmingham police apparently had no interaction with Edwards, however, a couple tweets trickled out of Edwards’ Twitter account around the time of the incident that indicate the wide receiver may have been near the incident. Edwards reportedly tweeted “Dam. Get ya knuckles ready” and then “Don’t fight if. You don’t know how.” Naturally Edwards deleted the tweets soon after and followed up with the old “my account got hacked” excuse.
