I'm pretty sure that everybody from woody on down knew one way or the other that Bray was partying etc. and for Bray partying = trouble. He probably should be in rehab. But he's apparently too busy getting his knuckles ready and then lying about it afterwards. He should stop tweeting and shut the hell up and talk to his attorney. "Get your knuckles ready" may turn out have been one of the most expensive tweets in NFL history. I wonder if Goodell will investigate.
I really don't think Cotch is in danger of being traded or cut to bring Braylon back. There are other reasons at play.
This. If Cotchery is getting shopped around, it has to be related to his back injury or his own requests to leave. The guy spent last season getting demoted and playing injured and then the Jets scramble frantically to spend money on a vet WR who could potentially play #2. It wouldn't surprise me completely to find out that Cotchery thought he could do better elsewhere.
Wow..... he's a retard http://eye-on-football.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/22475988/31049173 and I was pissed that they were letting him walk to bring in Plax. now we know why
Let me get this Braylon story straight. He goes out to a restaurant with friends and they get into an argument with another group; words are exchanged; a fork is drawn in anger. You might want to hold off on the tableware violence when you're negotiating a work contract but hey, at least he didn't have a gun in his waistband. Then he tweets about it, apparently addressing it to the people they're fighting. So his friends are in a cutlery-fight and Braylon takes out his phone to narrate the events to the participants and the world? Did he tell their opponents to subscribe to his twitter feed to see how they've been dissed? Either "Fox 2 in Detroit" has some very creative reporters or this guy has a problem with drink: not a my-hands-shake-in-the-morning problem, but an alcohol-frees-me-from-my-inhibitions-and-residual-intelligence problem. I remember most of his run-ins with the law involving nightclubs and getting back from them. But then the next day, hopefully sober, he says that he lost his phone and someone else tweeted that, because it's very plausible that some bystander would tweet "get ya knuckles ready". This is some sort of stupidity triathlon.
The problem is that its stupid to gamble millions in compensation and the season on a reckless drunkard who is one dumb move away from getting himself suspended and/or jailed on a probation violation. Good player, but not a reliable investment.
That's because all this stuff is just starting to come out about him being a shitty teammate and more of this off-field shit. Braylon must be some kind of idiot to be stupid enough to throw tons of money away.
I think it comes down to his own perception of his talent vs. everyone else's. He believes he is talented enough to get away with consistently flirting with suspension. The rest of the league does not. Let's see how that works out for him. He is marginally more talented than Cotch but has 10% of the focus, discipline and common sense.
Nah, lets bring him back for 1 year at Vet minimum. He is a decent player when he is on the field and I doubt he's going to get a much better offer right now.
I dont think so, I still think he or someone else is needed in the lineup. I believe he's out acting stupid because he really is sad like someone joked earlier. I think we could get him on a cheaper price now on a one year deal with incentives. If plax works out this year great, but the guys still going to be 35 next season. We need younger players and Braylon fits our scheme so well and has a high level of chemistry with Sanchez, they weren't on the same page last year they were in the same sentence.
Braylon is (was?) one of my favorite players on the team and he was one of the most exciting Jets to watch in recent memory. I was a huge supporter of his and really wanted to see him brought back this season. However, after this most recent "fight" he got into in Michigan, it has me wondering if maybe the front office knew something we don't know. It just doesn't seem like he can control himself... Oct 2009 - Assaults one of James' entourage in a Cleveland club Probation begins Sept 2010 - DUI arrest - Later pleads guilty. June 2011 - Loses control of his 2011 Audi at 3:40AM and hits a pylon. Alcohol was "not a factor". I wonder what was? Aug 2011 - his entourage gets into a fight and Braylon live tweets it, then later says his phone was lost and someone else tweeted it. That's 4 incidents all in a relatively short timespan, and consider he was on probation as well. It honestly makes me wonder if there are more incidents that we don't know about, where he got off with a warning, or just got lucky and didn't get caught, etc. It seems like the Front office knows something more to the story that we don't. I am a huge fan of Braylon on the field, and off too, but recently I'm starting to re-think that 2nd part. That track record is pretty awful. Braylon is a huge risk for going to jail right now. He's already on probation, doing monthly check-ins, and performing community service. I don't think I can trust him to not screw up again. I'm afraid it's just a matter of time before it happens again.
Definitely a very high risk move in our part. A long term contract with someone that volatile is nuts. It boils down to field performance and lockeroom chemistry. On the field he will be a great asset. If in the lockeroom he is mature enough to make his teammates want him back then go with a one year contract. If lockeroom and showboating is a major problem to the performance of the rest of the team, then he goes. Unfortunately you can not neatly separate his personal demons and off the field irresponsibility from field performance and good team chemistry.
Well I was a loud voice calling for the Jets to bring him back, but that's the end of it. What people need to realize is that he's not just facing suspension, he's facing real jail time. He got lucky on the DUI rap, and I don't even know if he's been evaluated yet in Cleveland for probation violation. Add this incident into the mix, and he's going to jail. Sorry Braylon. I really liked you, more than Homes even, but this is just out of control. Get your shit together man. In the meantime, the Jets will be moving on.
Where has it been reported that he's been a locker room problem? The only place I've seen it so far is on this site. Who exactly reported it? Was it just a rumor, or did other Jets actually say it?
